Effects Of Boron Fertilization On The Yield And Some Yield Components Of Bread And Durum Wheat, Aydin Güneş, Mehmet Alpaslan, Ali̇ İnal, M. Sai̇t Adak, Fi̇gen Eraslan, Nuray Çi̇çek

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

A greenhouse and a 1-year field study were conducted during the cropping season on the effects of B on yield and some yield components of bread (Triticum aestivum L, cv. Bezostaja) and durum (Triticum durum L. cv. Kiziltan) wheat cultivars in a B-deficient soil (0.68 mg kg^{-1}, NH4OAc extractable). Boron was applied as H_3BO_3 at 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 mg B kg^{-1} in the greenhouse study and 0, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 kg B ha^{-1} in the field study. Shoot dry weights of Bezostaja and Kiziltan significantly increased regardless of the applied B levels in …

Determining Irrigation Possibilities And Agricultural Problems In The Wheat Growing Areas Of Ankara, Konya And Eskişehir Provinces, Zeynep Dernek Jan 2001

Determining Irrigation Possibilities And Agricultural Problems In The Wheat Growing Areas Of Ankara, Konya And Eskişehir Provinces, Zeynep Dernek

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

This study was conducted to determine the agricultural technical conditions and irrigation systems for obtaining high yields in wheat production. A questionnaire was prepared and applied to farmers growing wheat in Ankara, Konya and Eskişehir in 1996. After analyzing the data, we determined the water resources, the amount of water used for wheat production, the allocation of crops, and the technical and financial problems faced by farmers in the research area. The findings of the study showed that 74% of irrigation water is high quality, and ground water and surface water are used in almost equal amounts. Depending on the …

Estimation Of Inheritance Of Some Agronomical Characters In Common Wheat By Diallel Cross Analysis, Okan Şener, Mehmet Kilinç, Tacetti̇n Yağbasanlar Jan 2000

Estimation Of Inheritance Of Some Agronomical Characters In Common Wheat By Diallel Cross Analysis, Okan Şener, Mehmet Kilinç, Tacetti̇n Yağbasanlar

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

This study was conducted to determine the genetic structure of a population which included six common wheat cultivars or lines and crosses of half diallel cultivars or lines. It was concluded that the epistatic effect was significant for a weight of 1000 grains and yield per plant, while the additive effect was significant for period of maturity, the number of spikelets per head, and the number of kernels per hear. The dominance effect was found in yield per plant. A partial dominance effect was found in other char-acters. It was found that at least 4 pairs of genes were effective …

Interactive Effects Of Vernalization, Photoperiod And Light Intensity On Reproductive Development Of Wheat Cultivars, Yasemi̇n Ekmekçi̇, Serpi̇l Terzi̇oğlu Jan 2000

Interactive Effects Of Vernalization, Photoperiod And Light Intensity On Reproductive Development Of Wheat Cultivars, Yasemi̇n Ekmekçi̇, Serpi̇l Terzi̇oğlu

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The interactive effects of vernalization, photoperiod and light intensity on the length of the apex or spike and main shoot, and the diameter of the main shoot of five different wheat ( Triticum aestivumL.) cultivars (Çukurova-86, Atay-85, Lancer, Haymana-79 and Bezostaya-1) having different biological characters were investigated. The research was carried out in four independent experiments, which were the combinations of two different photoperiods (12 and 16 h.d .-1 ) and light intensities (200 µmol m -2 s -1 and 500 µmol m -2 s -1 PFD) with different vernalization periods. At the end of each photoperiod and light intensity …
