Fruits of 2 different plum cultivars (Prunus cerasifera Ehrh.) were collected in 2015 from 15-year-old trees in Hatay Province, Turkey. The 2 plum cultivars (Can and Gül) were on their own roots. Fruits were picked 5 times (both Can and Gül) at 12-day intervals (12 April [t1], 24 April [t2], 6 May [t3], 18 May [t4], and 30 May [t5]) during maturation in 2015. Higher levels of health-promoting components with the capacity to prevent several diseases, such as phenolic compounds with antioxidant activity, were found in the Can fruits, whereas the Gül fruits were characterized by lower values. Forests dominated by serotinous tree species are usually generalized to follow an autosuccessional model of postfire recovery. However, recent studies have suggested that prefire conditions, topography, and idiosyncrasies of the fire disturbance can have notable effects on how such forests respond to fire. We investigated the effects of fire severity, prefire stand age, and aspect (slope orientation) on the early postfire recovery of Pinus brutia forest. Twelve cultivars and selections of sweet and sour cherries were surveyed and characterized agromorphologically. A total of 33 characters, mainly defined by the International Plant Genetic Resources Institute and the International Union for the Protection of New Cultivars of Plants, were used to describe the tree, branches, leaves, blooming, and fruits. This allowed unequivocally clear separation between six distinct growth forms-compact, dwarf, upright (pillar), columnar, weeping, and standard form-as well as evaluation of their interaction with four rootstocks of different vigor. Eretmocerus warrae Naumann and Schmidt is a thelytokous parasitoid that attacks the greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum. Its host discrimination and superparasitism behavior was investigated at different host densities and time intervals between the first and second ovipositions under laboratory conditions (22 ± 1 °C, 60 ± 5% RH, a 16:8 light:dark photoperiod). At a density of between 10 and 15 hosts, significantly fewer ovipositions in parasitized nymphs were performed by the same experienced parasitoids (SEPs) or by different experienced parasitoids (DEPs) than by naïve parasitoids (NPs) 1 and 24 h after parasitization by the first female. In this paper, static bending (modulus of rupture, MOR, and modulus of elasticity, MOE) and compression strength parallel to grain (Σc??) of black alder wood (Alnus glutinosa Gaertn.) were investigated. For experimental testing, we used black alder wood from two different areas: Crni Jarci, Croatia, and Malá Byst?ice, Czech Republic. Experimental tests were carried out according to the Czech national standards: ?SN 49 0115 and ?SN 49 0116 for static bending and ?SN 49 0110 for compression strength. Anthropogenic fires have varying effects on the oak-dominated forests of the Zagros Mountains in western Iran. The objective of this project was to investigate the effects of fire on various components of soil. For this purpose three homogeneous and neighboring sites were inspected. Site A was the unburned control. Sites B and C experienced fires about 2 and 8 years prior to the study, respectively.
