This paper explores the evolution of American foreign policy in the Balkans in the years preceding the Dayton Accords. Specifically, it examines the progression from America’s position of nonintervention and reluctance to engage to a role of leadership in ending the conflict. Key factors discussed include the inadequacy of early U.S. policies in the region, mounting pressure to end the violent conflict, the value placed on the NATO organization and relationship by the Clinton administration, and the unwavering commitment to keep American troops out of the conflict. This creative research project examines the Devadasi profession in India. It seeks to understand the lived experiences of women who are temple prostitutes in current day India and their experiences of sexual exploitation and abuse. The findings from the research are shared through a poem entitled “around the sun”. A detail description of the stanzas and poem mechanism accompanies the poem.

This paper investigates France’s role during the first decade of European integration, and in particular the initiatives of Jean Monnet and Robert Schuman which led to the creation of the European Communities. Monnet and Schuman began the modern process of uniting Europe with the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community, but the process of integration faced its strongest opposition within France itself and the movement had its first setback in 1954 when the French National Assembly rejected the proposed European Defense Community. The Judge Robert E. Quinn Interviews on Mid-20th Century Rhode Island Politics
From the summer of 1972 to the fall of 1973, Matthew Smith, then Archivist of Providence College, conducted a number of recorded interviews with "Fighting Bob" Quinn (1884-1975), a prominent Rhode Island politician of the mid-twentieth century. Quinn, who after serving in all 3 branches of Rhode Island government, capped his twenty-five career in Rhode Island politics with tenure as Chief Judge of the United States Court of Military Appeals. The interview tapes, which were roughly transcribed, cover all phases of his public service in the political arena of Rhode Island.
