This session will explore the impetus for UCF Libraries interest in developing a research data management (RDM) workshop series, specific infrastructure concerns (such as scalability and staff resources), key partnerships leveraged, and how the pilot workshops series has provided valuable lessons learned as the Libraries develops additional workshops on research data management. What do you do when your library does not have a formal RDM team or positions dedicated to this area of research support? How can you leverage existing campus partnerships to create robust and scalable services? Come to this session to find out more.

The University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries has developed a series of research data management sessions to provide support and promote awareness of available resources to the campus community, with an emphasis on outreach to graduate students and faculty. The Libraries does not have a formal research data management team or dedicated positions, and with this in mind, a team of librarians from Reference & Information Services, Digital Initiatives, and Scholarly Communication collaborated to plan opportunities for RDM programming.
This team developed a STEAM Bootcamp series piloted in 2019-2020 with a four-part series of RDM workshops ranging from STEAM-focused literature …

Honors undergraduate theses are modeled after Master's theses, and formatting review is an important part of the process. The Office of Honors Research (OHR) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) has, in the last two years, worked with the UCF Libraries to streamline the format review process in its Honors Undergraduate Thesis (HUT) program by making use of Digital Commons, the online platform used for the publication of theses and dissertations. Format review was previously done in person, then via email. Since Digital Commons was originally developed for journal article submission, it allows for submission of manuscripts, the return …
Health Outcomes Of Tourism Development: A Longitudinal Study Of The Impact Of Tourism Arrivals On Residents’ Health, Maksim Godovykh, Jorge Ridderstaat
Health Outcomes Of Tourism Development: A Longitudinal Study Of The Impact Of Tourism Arrivals On Residents’ Health, Maksim Godovykh, Jorge Ridderstaat
Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works
This study investigates the influence of the number of tourism arrivals on the physical health of local people in one of the most-visited destinations in the world. Although the literature traditionally describes the economic, social, and cultural impacts of tourism, there is a gap related to the effects of tourism on residents' health. The methodology involves applying the limited-information maximum likelihood instrumental variable approach. The results demonstrate that tourism arrivals negatively influence residents’ health in the short term, yet have positive impacts on long-term health outcomes. The study contributes to the theory and practice by offering a new approach to …

In psychology, the peak-end rule has been used to describe the effects of emotional factors on live experiences. However, it has yet to be examined in the contexts of events and conferences. This study investigated the influence of conference presentation order, excitement following peak experience, previous conference experience, and time since one’s last visit on conference satisfaction and loyalty. Although no significant differences in satisfaction and loyalty were found with regard to the order of presentations, previous experience and time since last visit were found to have significant effects on attendees’ outcomes. End-of-conference peak experiences exhibited the strongest influence on …
