Dance Therapy And Self-Concept Change In Psychiatric Patients, Cheryl Jeanne Hall

This study investigated the effects of various forms of therapy (individual, occupational, and dance) on self-concept. Subjects were 29 psychiatric patients at Providence Medical Center who volunteered to participate in this study. The Tennessee Self-Concept Scale (TSCS) was used to measure self-concept both at time of admission and prior to discharge. The data were analyzed in a step-wise multiple regression to determine which of the various forms of therapy are the best predictors of self-concept at second TSCS application. The results of the step-wise multiple regression did not support the hypothesis that exposure to dance therapy would be a significant …

Purpose. It was the purpose of this study to construct a profile of Nebraska Extension Agents related to their awareness, self-perceived confidence levels, attitudes and present practices in selected areas of mass media communications. Method. A questionnaire, developed by the author, was mailed to 100 percent of the Nebraska Extension Agents. The questionnaire used a Likert scale to measure self-perceived confidence levels and educational effectiveness in regard to selected mass media tasks. N11.9 million and a net outflow of N3.7 million during the third and fourth quarters of 1983 respectively. These compared with the net outflows of 13.2 and N171.9 million recorded during the counterpart periods of the preceding year (See Table 1). In line with these developments, official holdings of external reserves increased by N11.9 million during the 3rd quarter, recording N802.2 million at the end of September, 1983. They decreased by N3.7 million during the 4th quarter to N798.5 million at the end of December 1983. (See Table 3) .

Money supply, narrowly defined , Ml, attained a seasonal peak of N 11,282.4 million at the end of the fourth quarter of 1983, thus showing an increase of N256.5 million or 2.3 per cent over the level in the preceding quarter, compared with the increase of N950. l million or 10.4 per cent in the corresponding period of 1982. Over the level a year earlier, the rise in this aggregate was Nl ,233.9 million or 12.3 per cent.

The International Commodity Markets weakened slightly during the fourth quarter of 1983, compared with the preceding quarter. The major fa ctors which influenced developments in the markets during the period included the reaction of specul ators to movements in the sterling exchange rate as well as forecasts of the state of supply of most of the commodities.

Sharp cutbacks in federal aid for housing and community development now challenge Boston to become more resourceful in its housing strategies. In the neighborhoods where new solutions are needed, much has already been happening that can be adapted and expanded. Fortunately, the City's resurgence can also help achieve more results with less public resources, but a fresh approach involving community interests is essential. At the same time, local laws, procedures and programs devised to address past problems must also be critically re-evaluated to determine their appropriateness to the new realities.

Housing Issues In Boston: Guidelines For Options And Strategies, Joseph S. Slavet

Most of the recent analyses of Boston's housing problem reveal a complex and contradictory mix of positive trends and negative factors, clouded by a growing percentage of poor and near-poor resident households in the City and declining commitments by the federal government to housing, particularly for subsidies of new housing production.

That Boston's housing problem, unlike that of many other large cities, is of manageable proportions, however, is attributable mainly to the following demographic trends and forecasts that are not likely to exacerbate the problem and that many even ease some of the most serious current and future pressures of …
