The Problem
Studies dealing with the use of space have been concerned primarily with territoriality, the way man perceives space through his senses, and with the manner by which culture affects the location of persons in space. This study, like others, falls under the rubric of spatial ecology in that it deals with the occupation of space. This study focuses on the college classroom in an attempt to determine if the occupation of space is systematically patterned, that is, whether particular areas of the classroom are occupied by students with specifiable characteristics. In this context, the particular …

The Effect Of Temporal Separation On Performance Of A Discrimination Task, Stanley Dale Winter
The Effect Of Temporal Separation On Performance Of A Discrimination Task, Stanley Dale Winter
Masters Theses
Test trials, consisting of the selection of two color cubes from a set of three different color cubes, were presented with: (1) a 15-second time delay between trials, (2) a single-color selection task between trials, (3) an unrelated motor task between trials and (4) no interspersion between trials. All Ss performed the task with more accuracy when test trials were separated by the unrelated motor task. The lowest level of accuracy occurred when test trials were presented sequentially with no interspersion. Performance appeared to be facilitated by the temporal separation of test trials.

Statistical Analysis Of A Health Attitude Survey In Three East Tennessee Counties, Georgianne Dunavant Ratliff
Masters Theses
The general objective of this research was divided into three specific phases: (1) to ascertain health attitudes of a sample population; (2) to determine the relationship between biographic and attitude factors within the sample population; and (3) to evaluate the above in terms of its significance to health care planning.
The writer surveyed the literature, defined hypotheses and developed a questionnaire. A community in each of the three East Tennessee counties was selected for surveying. A total of 164 interviews was conducted, 44 in Knox County, 53 in Blount County and 67 in Sevier County. An interview team of 18 …

Chapter I
Introduction
Social scientists have long been concerned with the relationships between mental disorder and various sociocultural factors, such as, social economic status, ethnic background, sex, age, and marital status. Until quite recently, the majority of studies that have investigated these relationships have defined cases of mental disorder solely in terms of whether or not an individual was in psychiatric treatment (see Faris and Dunham, 1939; Rose and Stub, 1955; Hollingshead and Redlich, 1958).
The utilization of psychiatric treatment as the only criterion of mental disorder, however, has been criticized by a number of researchers. Felix and Bowers (1948), …
