Intraurban Interactions, Social Structure And Urban Government Expenditures: A Stochastic Model, Roy W. Bahl
Intraurban Interactions, Social Structure And Urban Government Expenditures: A Stochastic Model, Roy W. Bahl
ECON Publications
A behavioral model is presented to identify the linkages between urban social structure and urban public expenditure data. The model is then tested on data from the 198 largest U.S. cities using first a principal components analysis to dimension the structural variables and second a regression model to measure the covariation between urban spending and selected measures of urban structure. The results suggest a relevant set of considerations for planning the urban fisc for purposes of State and Federal intergovernmental policy as well as for purposes of urban physical planning.

A wide variety of economic models includes expectational variables among the list of variables determining behavior. In this paper it is shown that for a large class of time series, expectations about the future of observed series or about unobserved components of economic time series may lead to rational lag distributions. Specifically it is shown that rational distributed lags arise whenever the series (or the ρ-th difference of the series) have autoregressive, moving average representations and linear least squares forecasts are calculated. The orders of the lag distributions are also given. In Section 4 an example is given that shows …

Rural Land Reform And Farmers' Living In Taiwan., Jau-In Lai Chuang
Rural Land Reform And Farmers' Living In Taiwan., Jau-In Lai Chuang
Economics ETDs
Taiwan is basically an agricultural region and therefore, farming plays a vital part in the economic life of the people.
With a limited amount of farm land. Taiwan’s land system before the reform faced a number of problems. Tenancy was one of the most serious problems. Tenants constituted 38.7 percent of total farm families in 1948, a year before rural land reform. Under the traditional system tenants not only had to pay a high rent ranged from 50 per cent to 70 per cent of the crop harvest to landlords, also had to deposit a large sum or money to …

The Maturity And Security Patterns Of Commercial Bank Loans And Advances: 1963-68, Central Bank Of Nigeria Cbn
The Maturity And Security Patterns Of Commercial Bank Loans And Advances: 1963-68, Central Bank Of Nigeria Cbn
Economic and Financial Review
This paper has examined the maturity and security patterns of commercial bank loans and advances during the 1963-68 period. It is, perhaps, not surprising to find that most commercial bank loans are short-term. It is, however, instructive to find that up to 90 per cent of commercial bank loans granted during the period matured or were expected to mature within one year. This pattern of behaviour is observed in a developing country in which commercial banks constitute the main mobilisers and suppliers of loanable funds.

Notes On Commercical Bank Deposit Liabilities: 1967-April 1969, Central Bank Of Nigeria Cbn
Economic and Financial Review
The movements of commercial bank liabilities for deposits since January 1967 seem generally to have followed the pattern in past years. The large increases in deposits, especially time and savings, were mainly attributable to the current civil war and the consequent fall in economic activities. The movement of the various components of the banks' deposits are shown in the tables.
