Effects Of A Multiple Schedule Of Collective Reinforcement On Shaping The Cultivative Response Rate Of Three-Man Teams, David D. Burnstein
Effects Of A Multiple Schedule Of Collective Reinforcement On Shaping The Cultivative Response Rate Of Three-Man Teams, David D. Burnstein
Psychology ETDs
The principle of reinforcement developed by experimenting with individual subjects has been extended in recent years for use with groups. In most of these studies some social interaction within the group is reinforced. For example, Azrin and Lindsley (1956) and Lindsley (1961) have manipulated imitation, cooperation, and competition between two subjects in an operant conditioning situation. Levin and Shapiro (1962) manipulated conversation between members of a group through appropriate reinforcement. Glaser and Klaus (1962) conditioned a team of two monitors and an observer to respond as a unit by reinforcing the group only when each member had made the proper …

The Comparative Efficiency Of Two Instruments For The Diagnosis Of Juvenile Delinquency, Judith A. Nixon
Psychology ETDs

However, before proceeding directly into the purpose of the study, a brief discussion of the delinquent will be undertaken in order to present background or foundation for this research.
Application Of Bower's Association Model To Paired-Associate Transfer, Edward J. Rickert
Application Of Bower's Association Model To Paired-Associate Transfer, Edward J. Rickert
Psychology ETDs
The purpose of this experiment was to examine the predictive power of Bower’s associative model in an investigation of the “hook-up” phase of paired-associate transfer. Presumably, if the model had sufficient power to generate results predicting transfer performance, then other aspects of the verbal learning process, e.g., the response-learning stage, might conceivably submit to a similar analysis. Thus a synthesis of the laws governing verbal learning could possibly be achieved via mathematical integration.
The Role Of The Contested Delegations At The 1952 Republican Convention, Raymond C. Cowan Jr.
The Role Of The Contested Delegations At The 1952 Republican Convention, Raymond C. Cowan Jr.
Political Science ETDs
The 1952 contest between Taft and Eisenhower presumed the victor would have a strong voice in determining the policies and politics of the party. Though neither could establish the direction of the party alone, the outcome of the contest would determine the course of the Republican party.
The delegates to the 1952 Republication convention were in four categories: (1) those committed to Eisenhower, (2) those committed to Taft, (3) those committed to neither candidate, (4) those whose credentials were contested.
The study here is concerned with the last category of delegates--especially the contested Southern delegates. The basic question is to …

Role Change And Cultural Change: The Canyoncito Navaho Case, Ronald J. Kurtz
Anthropology ETDs
This dissertation is concerned with cultural change among the Navaho Indians who have occupied the area around Mount Taylor and the Cebolleta Mountains in New Mexico from the sixteenth century to the present time. This group, variously called the "Canyoncito Navaho," the "Enemy Navaho," "Sandoval's Band," the "Cebolleta Navaho," and the "Mount Taylor Navaho" in the literature, will be referred to as the Canyoncito Navaho in this report. This designation, although first applied in the twentieth century, is employed, for convenience, for the whole of this people's history. Today, the name refers to the Navaho residents of the Canyoncito Navaho …

Early Huguenot Political Theory As Represented By Francis Hotman And Franco-Gallia (1524 -1590), Marcelle Woodruff Stumpff
Political Science ETDs
The main purpose of this thesis is to study early Huguenot political theory as represented by Francis Hotman's chief work, Franco-Gallia. It was a book written toward a specific and during a crucial time for France; yet its message is hardly limited to its time. Franco-Gallia is not one of the most important books ever written on political theory; it is, however, one of the most important books of the early Huguenot era, if not the most important one. And since this paper is a study of early Huguenot thought, its focus is on Franco-Gallia.
