The Non-Pecuniary Contributions Of Labor Unions To Their Members, Wayman Wesley Steed
The Non-Pecuniary Contributions Of Labor Unions To Their Members, Wayman Wesley Steed
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
Do unions make non-pecuniary contributions to their members? Are these contributions regarded by the members to be of sufficient importance to justify, at times, the unions existence?
This paper will consider the non-pecuniary contributions of labor unions to their members in an effort to ascertain their merit as an answer to the union leader’s dilemma.
The writer would like to make it very clear that his thought is not to consider the possibility of a complete substitution of non-cost gains for those which do cost the employer. It is expected that wages will continue to be raised as the rise …
A Critical Survey Of The Most Common Errors Of Technique In Eight Track And Field Events, Arner Eugene Gustafson
A Critical Survey Of The Most Common Errors Of Technique In Eight Track And Field Events, Arner Eugene Gustafson
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
In the process of coaching, one of the more valuable techniques is the correction of faulty techniques which distract from the best performance. It is the purpose of this thesis to bring together from authoritative sources and observation some of the more common errors of technique, which make for faulty performance in eight track and field events.
Each event has been broken down or separated into the more or less logical areas of operation. For instance, the sprint races break down into four areas, while the pole value breaks down into eleven areas. Each technique has been photographed both positive …

Church-Home Relationships In Church Schools Of The Central District Of The California-Nevada Conference Of The Methodist Church, Virginia Florence Curtis
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
Noteworthy contributions in the field of church-home cooperation in religious education are seen in the church school curriculum of the Character Research Project at Union College, Schnectady, New York, of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. and of the Episcopal Church. These contributions to the field of church-home relationships are described and analysed in Chapter III.
This thesis is not concerned with the evaluation of the work being done by these groups; it is concerned with what is being done in the area of church-home relationships within the Methodist Church. Specifically stated, the purpose of the thesis is: (1) to determine whether …
A Comparative Analysis Of The Characters Of Two Dramatic King Lears : Shakespeare And Bottomley, Doyne Joseph Mraz
A Comparative Analysis Of The Characters Of Two Dramatic King Lears : Shakespeare And Bottomley, Doyne Joseph Mraz
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
It has been the purpose of this study to make a comparative analysis of the most significant characters in two selections of dramatic literature: Gordon Bottomley’s King Lear’s Wife and William Shakespeare’s King Lear. The significant characters are Goneril and Regan, the “evil influence” in both plays; the two Lears, the “neutral influence” in both plays; and Hygd and Cordelia in King Lear’s Wife and King Lear, respectively. Hygd and Cordelia are the “honorable influence” in the stories.
It has been the further purpose of this thesis to delete from both plays all subplots which do not directly pertain to …
The Epic Movement And The California Election Of 1934, Robert Matteson Gordon
The Epic Movement And The California Election Of 1934, Robert Matteson Gordon
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
Californians, in 1933 and 1934, were psychologically ready to act against prevailing social and economic conditions. Existing economic dislocations could not continue for long without peril. It was not clear whether the revolt would be toward fascism or extreme radicalism. There was at all events a growing popular reaction against those who had political and economic control of the State, and this was especially noticeable in the southern part of the State.
A Relationship Between Eastern Thought And Western Psychotherapy : An Application Of Taoism And Zen To Client-Centered Therapy, Lloyd Saxton
A Relationship Between Eastern Thought And Western Psychotherapy : An Application Of Taoism And Zen To Client-Centered Therapy, Lloyd Saxton
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
This paper does not purport to be an examination of Zen or Taoism, but rather a view of certain aspects of Zen and Taoism, but rather a view of certain aspects of Zen and Taoism from the vantage point of contemporary psychology, to see if a metaphysic, a philosophical resting-place, might not be found for the admittedly pragmatic science of clinical psychology.
The questions the paper asks, then, and attempts to answer, are (1) can such a formulation be made, and (2) does psychotherapy conducted from this point of view move satisfactorily.

Stability And Progress In The Aircraft Industry : An Inquiry Into The Factors, Favorable And Unfavorable, To Stability And Progress, Robert Carl Clark
Stability And Progress In The Aircraft Industry : An Inquiry Into The Factors, Favorable And Unfavorable, To Stability And Progress, Robert Carl Clark
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
Stability and progress are among the most important factors for study in an economic analysis of the aircraft manufacturing industry. Stability of an industry of such critical importance reduces the extreme dislocations associated with a free enterprise economy during business cycle fluctuations. Stability contributed to the maintenance of a high level of gross national product, employment, and income at local, regional and national levels of the economy. In addition, stability is essential to progress and is, therefore, of vital concern to the aircraft manufacturing industry, individual firms, the Federal Government, and the economy as a whole. Progress is required at …

A Study Of The United States-Korea Treaty Of 1882, Rai Won Pak
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
This study covers not only the cause of Korea’s entry into the world affairs with the United States in 1882, but also it is a study of modern power politics in the Far East, in which Korea played a significant role.
The importance of the Korea position in international affairs has been dimly treated by the Western World - yet, she is a nation populated by approximately thirty millions; the thirteenth largest nation in the world, and Koreans are the most homogenous people in the world; the nation, which is thrust down off the coast of Asia between the thirty-fifth …

A Survey Of Bond Campaign Procedures Followed By A Selected Number Of California School Districts, John William Adamson
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
California Schools have experienced an unprecedented growth during the past several years. Enrollments in many school districts within the state have more than doubled since the end of World War II.
It took California ninety years to enroll its first million children in school in 1940. It took only thirteen years to enroll the second million in 1953. It will take only an estimated five years to enroll the third million by 1958.1 Practically every California school system, therefore, is faced with the continuing problem of providing more classrooms to house these new pupils. To provide funds for additional …
