The purpose of this thesis is to examine the origin, enactment, and operation of the Direct Primary Code of New Mexico. What has been the effect of greater public participation in the selection of candidates? Has there been a change in the quality of individuals who now seek public office? Has the legislation improved under the law? What are the interests which are for or against the measure? These inquiries will be pursued in the pages that follow.

In April, 1942, Captain Jack Bradley was captured by the Japanese on Bataan. Before entering the army, he had been a student at the University of New Mexico and had taken several courses in psychology. He was in his third year of undergraduate work when called into the service in 1940, along with other members of the well-known 200th Coast Artillery of the New Mexico National Guard.

The orderly arrangement of the archeological cultures of Missouri, showing areal and temporal relationships, appears to be one of the major problems in that state at the present time. It is proposed to undertake a classification of the known archeological cultures by means of the McKern Taxonomic System, to point out the known distribution of each culture within the state, and to undertake a tentative sequence of the classified cultures by means of evidence found in Missouri and in surrounding areas.
