History And Development Of The Mental Hygiene Clinic Of Louisville, Kentucky., Mary-Elizabeth O'Brien
History And Development Of The Mental Hygiene Clinic Of Louisville, Kentucky., Mary-Elizabeth O'Brien
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Interest in the field of Mental Hygiene and psychiatry has been stimulated by tensions of World War II. As in other communities there are mental hygiene and psychiatric facilities in Louisville. Kentucky. Since there is no available history compiled of this development such a study seems especially valuable at this time. How the community has gone about meeting the needs in this area of work in the past may be seen through such a study and may in turn prove a guide for future planning. The purpose of this dissertation is to trace the history and development of the Louisville …

A History Of The Financing Of The Private Family Agency, Louisville, Kentucky., Verna Schwab Will
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Finances play an important part in the operation of any business or organization. Quite often, it is a part that is little understood or studied except by the specialists in the financial field. A large proportion of the general public pays little more than a passing glance at the published financial papers of an organization. Particularly is this true of the welfare or social service organizations. Yet such agencies are usually the ones which come in for a greater share of criticism in connection with the expenditure of money. The purpose of this study, however, is not to attempt to …

A Study Of Forty-Three Patients Who Left Waverly Hills Sanatorium Against The Doctor's Advice During The Period September 1 Through December 31, 1942., Frances Fanelli
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Why do patients leave tuberculosis sanatoria against the doctor's advice? This study of home conditions of patients who left Waverly Hills Sanatorium, Waverly Hills, Kentucky, against the doctor's advice is an attempt to answer that question. We believed that by studying data regarding age, sex, occupation and marital status of the patients who left against the doctor's advice, the Sanatorium and the community could come to some understanding of the reasons for the patient's actions. How many patients were leaving against the doctor's advice? What was the size of the problem? Did these patients have active or arrested cases of …

A Follow-Up Study Of Thirty Eight Single Unmarried Mothers., Rose Migdal
A Follow-Up Study Of Thirty Eight Single Unmarried Mothers., Rose Migdal
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This study of thirty eight unmarried mothers known to the Children's Agency of Louisville, Kentucky is an attempt to find out what happens to these girls after the agency has terminated its contact with them. The study is not concerned with the problem of unmarried motherhood as such, but rather with the individual girl who gives birth to a child out of wedlock. The study, further, is not concerned with causal factors, the why and wherefore but rather with those conditions which brought the girl to a social agency when she finds that either she cannot help herself or her …
