Where Do Community College Students Go For Their Reference Management Needs: Findings From A Survey Study, Ajatshatru Pathak, Sarah Johnson

This research article reports the findings of a survey that was conducted at two community colleges affiliated with a large public university system in the Northeast of the United States. A survey was to explore community college students’ citation management help- seeking habits. Findings suggest that respondents were more likely to utilize Purdue University’s Online Writing Lab (OWL) website for reference management help than other resources. The results also show the impact of various factors (i.e., institution, academic level, undergraduate class level, field of study, age, gender, race/ethnicity, and user type) on students’ citation help -seeking practices. Collection acquisition is continuously becoming a rigorous activity as libraries are seeking more economical path to information resources to adequately meets the needs of their users. Libraries are supporting patrons needs through demand-driven acquisition that gives them liberty to participate in library collection acquisition decision. This study investigates Malaysian academic libraries adoption of Demand-driven acquisition (DDA) model considering the mediating effect of readiness. A quantitative research approach was employed using survey questionnaire with a total of 152 responses gathered. This study demonstrates that readiness has significantly influenced DDA adoption among Malaysian academic libraries, so is awareness and socio-economic factors.

Public university libraries in this dynamic and innovative environment strives to satisfy their users’ needs. Empirical literature on users’ satisfaction is extensive but controversial when it comes to different categories of users. Therefore, the objectives of this study is to assess challenges 4 public university libraries of western Kenya faces in accessing library and information services with appropriate solutions. Quantitative and qualitative research design was used with a purposive sample size of 378 students, 92 lecturers, 27 library staffs and 10 top management.
