A Visualization Model Used For Determining The Effectiveness Of Information Retrieval In A Scientific Database, Nestor L. Osorio, Samantha Johnson

In this study, we demonstrate that a visualization model can determine the effectiveness of searching a bibliographic database, when three descriptive metadata fields are compared. The Inspec database was searched to create a bibliography of articles about a broad scientific topic, interplanetary travel. We collected metadata from 823 Inspec articles and used the Sci2 Tool to create co-occurrence networks based on subject terms, title keywords, and classification codes from each of the articles. The very purpose of this paper is to provide a meticulous review of literature on various aspects of palm leaf manuscripts. Through the process of review, it aims to highlight the antiquity of palm leaf manuscripts, the process of seasoning and writing over the leaves, the physical, chemical and biological factors of deterioration, the classification and cataloguing process of manuscripts, different traditional / modern methods of preservation and conservation as well as the viability and prospects of digital preservation of manuscripts and the attempts taken by various manuscript libraries for digitization.

This study highlights the publication analysis in nanotechnology research outputs in global level as identified the data in Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection database, Thomson Reuters, Philadelphia, USA. It is found that a total output of worldwide scholarly communications in the field of nanotechnology is 20825 during the period between 1989 and 2014. The maximum numbers of outputs of 7269 records (34.91 %) were published by USA which is placed in the first rank.
