Previous studies indicate that particle shape plays an important role in the hydraulic conductivity (k) of granular materials, often represented through the Kozeny-Carman (KC) concept. Several recent studies have improved the accuracy of the KC approach using the particle size distribution (PSD) to estimate the specific surface area of particles but overly simplifying the effect of particle shape. A barrier option is an exotic path-dependent option contract where the right to buy or sell is activated or extinguished when the underlying asset reaches a certain barrier price during the lifetime of the contract. In this article we use a Mellin transform approach to derive exact pricing formulas for barrier options with general payoffs and exponential barriers on underlying assets that have jump-diffusion dynamics. With the same approach we also price barrier options on underlying futures contracts.

This paper presents the design of an extended parameterisations of H∞ controller for off grid operation of a microgrid. The microgrid consists of distributed generation units, filters and local loads. The filters are used to achieve accurate sinusoidal output voltage. However, loads which are connected to the microgrid are parametrically uncertain. Hence, it undergoes with unknown loads uncertainties. These unknown loads may create unknown loads harmonics, non-linearities which may reduce the voltage and current profile of the microgrid. Smart meter electricity data presents privacy risks when malicious agents gain insights of private information, including residents’ lifestyle and daily habits. When allowing access to record-level data, we apply the multiplicative noise method to mask individual smart meter data, which simultaneously aims to minimise disclosure of a dwelling’s consumption signal to any third party and to enable accurate estimation of the sum of a cluster of households. Three testing criteria are introduced to measure the performance of multiplicative noise masking approach relevant to the smart meter data. Pragmatic competence plays a critical role in successful communication. Pragmatics in the second language classroom has received substantial interest in TESOL, yet teachers often find the teaching of pragmatics challenging. Instruction generally tends to focus on grammar and vocabulary development, even though pragmatics is closely linked to the sound system (i.e., phonology) of the language. An effective method should combine attention to both pragmatic and phonological competence. A deep understanding of fraction concepts and operations is necessary if pre-service teachers (PSTs) are to present the concepts in multiple forms to learners. Such an understanding needs to be grounded in rich conceptual knowledge. In the present study, we explore the development of this understanding by supporting a cohort of 103 PSTs, who had previously demonstrated poor conceptual understanding of fraction concepts and operations, with a Representational Reasoning in Teaching and Learning (RRTL) approach aimed at strengthening their conceptual knowledge. In this paper, a Kretschmann configuration based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor is numerically designed using graphene-MoS2 hybrid structure TiO2-SiO2 nano particles for formalin detection. In this design, the observations of SPR angle versus minimum reflectance and SPR frequency (FSPR) versus maximum transmittance (Tmax) are considered. The chitosan is used as probe legend to perform reaction with the formalin (40% formaldehyde) which acts as target legend. In the present problem, two-phase mixed convection of a non-Newtonian nanofluid in a porous H-shaped cavity is studied. Inside the enclosure there are four rotating cylinders, using the Boussinesq approximation, mixed convection is created. Nanofluid includes H2O + 0.5% CMC and copper oxide nanoparticles. The mixture model was used to model physical phenomena. Different aspect ratios were used in order to achieve the best heat transfer rate. The Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME) is a national, extra-curricular mentoring programme that is closing the educational gap for young Indigenous Australians. So what is AIME doing that is working so well? This article draws on a large-scale classroom ethnography to describe the pedagogies that facilitate the teacher-student relationships in this programme. We use Shawn Wilson's theorisation of Indigenous ways of knowing in order to 'unpack' how these approaches succeeded in creating the egalitarian and trust-filled relationships reportedly experienced in the AIME programme.

We present an innovative decomposition approach for computing the price and the hedging parameters of American knock-out options with a time-dependent rebate. Our approach is built upon: (i) the Fourier sine transform applied to the partial differential equation with a finite time-dependent spatial domain that governs the option price, and (ii) the decomposition technique that partitions the price of the option into that of the European counterpart and an early exercise premium. Our analytic representations can generalize a number of existing decomposition formulas for some European-style and American-style options. Background: There is some evidence that, in contrast to depressed women, depressed men tend to report alternative symptoms that are not listed as standard diagnostic criteria. This may possibly lead to an under- or misdiagnosis of depression in men. Aims: This study aims to clarify whether depressed men and women report different symptoms. Longitudinal cohort studies have significant potential to inform policy across a range of child and family areas, including early childhood education and care. Here we describe the relationship between policy-makers and New Zealand’s contemporary pre-birth cohort study. We outline a model for policy interaction that highlights the relationship between Growing Up and policy across study design, implementation and analysis. We then describe key policy-relevant questions in the early childhood education and care area that Growing Up has addressed when children were age 2. Multivariate geostatistics is based on modelling all covariances between all possible combinations of two or more variables at any sets of locations in a continuously indexed domain. Multivariate spatial covariance models need to be built with care, since any covariance matrix that is derived from such a model must be nonnegative-definite. In this article, we develop a conditional approach for spatial-model construction whose validity conditions are easy to check. This research investigated the utility and practicality of dependency grids for capturing and presenting the dependency distribution patterns of three adolescents with autism spectrum disorder. The investigation also involved family members to explore their level of awareness of the adolescents' dependency preferences. The grids were analyzed using a range of measures, including the uncertainty index and partial order scalogram analysis. Findings indicate the adolescents had various ways of dispersing their dependencies among their resources and differed in the types of support most used. In this paper, a new approach is presented to reduce the nonlinear characteristics of a stressed power system by reducing its second-order modal interaction through retuning some parameters of the generator excitation system. In order to determine the second-order modal interaction of the system, a new index on nonlinearity is developed using normal form theory. Using the proposed index of nonlinearity, a sensitivity function is formed to indicate the most effective excitation system parameters in the nonlinear behavior of the system. One of the main challenges in through-the-wall radar imaging (TWRI) is the strong exterior wall returns, which tend to obscure indoor stationary targets, rendering target detection and classification difficult, if not impossible. In this paper, an effective wall clutter mitigation approach is proposed for TWRI that does not require knowledge of the background scene nor does it rely on accurate modeling and estimation of wall parameters. The proposed approach is based on the relative strength of the exterior wall returns compared to behind-wall targets. This paper presents a new method for classification and characterization of voltage dips and swells in electricity networks. The proposed method exploits unique signatures and parameters of three phase voltage signals extracted from the polarization ellipse in three-dimensional (3D) co-ordinates. Five ellipse parameters, which include azimuthal angle, elevation, tilt, semi-minor axis and semi-major axis, are used to classify and characterize voltage dips and swells. Seven types of voltage dips, which include a total of 19 groups of dips incorporating different kinds of balanced (three-phase dips) and unbalanced (single-phase or double-phase) dips, are identified and successfully classified using the 3D polarization …
