This report is based upon activities of the Research Committee, UTK’s Commission for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) People, conducted during spring 2007. The objectives of the report include:

Why do we commemorate this national day? What is the importance of having heroes and heroines in Oromo society? What criteria distinguish Oromo individuals who have sacrificed their lives for the liberation of their people and their country? There are five major reasons why we commemorate this day. Recent rankings have reaffirmed the school’s steadily emerging status as a national leader in teaching and research. Last April, the U.S. News & World Report ranking of library and information sciences (LIS) programs placed SIS as the 16th best program in North America.
In September, SIS ranked No. 1 in the nation for per capita journal articles published by its faculty, according to a study by researchers from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Federated searching seems obvious in the age of Google: students, faculty, and the public have what they have come to expect--a simple search box for one-stop shopping for information. The jury is still out on federated search systems, even though more libraries now have them. There are murmurings that federated search has lower-than-expected use and may not be the magic search bullet librarians were led to believe.
