As representations of queer people on screen grow, so too has the violence for queer folks at the margins. This project looks at four documentaries that cover key moments in LGBTQ history to see how filmmaking methodologies and choices can further the harms of institutional violence. Key themes include homonormative and assimilationist representations in film, the formation of a reductive cultural memory of queer politics, and the obscuring of the global crises of AIDS. This paper investigates the effect of antiretroviral therapy (ART) coverage on economic growth in Sub-Saharan Africa. I model the relationship following the expanded Solow Growth Model, proposing a dual health capital and educational human capital mechanism through which ART impacts growth. While previous studies propose conflicting results, I use the most comprehensive dataset, and employ theory-backed specifications to provide the most accurate and reliable estimates of the effect. How Has The Introduction Of Antiretroviral Therapy (Art) Affected The Dynamics Between Aids And Economic Growth In Sub-Saharan Africa?, Jose R. Rubio

This paper quantifies the economic effect of the use of antiretroviral therapy as a frontline strategy to fight AIDS using data on 29 countries in Sub-‐Saharan Africa. To this purpose, I use two-‐stage least squares estimation defining both a health equation and an education and health capital-‐augmented structural Solow growth equation. Through the introduction of antiretroviral therapy (ART) and HIV prevalence in the health equation, I indirectly link HIV and ART to economic growth. The results show that the HIV/AIDS epidemic reduces GDP per capita by 0.175% per marginal increase in HIV prevalence. ART increases GDP per capita by 0.048% …
