Organizations are increasingly utilizing communications technologies (CT) (e.g., smart phones, tablets) for the purposes of work-related communications after hours. Such technologies allow workers to instantaneously interact with clients and co-workers, accomplish work-related tasks at home or on the weekends, and access information across physical and temporal boundaries. However, researchers have suggested that use of CTs after hours can cause conflict between the work and life domains and can negatively impact employee well-being.
