In order to understand the Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, we have to analyze the strategic roots of this Pope, a shepherd who lived his life with the smell of the sheep. Only if we recognize the “great enemy” we can fully understand all the Papal “No’s” of the Encyclical: no to an economy of exclusion, no to the new idolatry of money, no to a financial system which rules rather than serves, and no to the inequality which spawns violence.
