Librarians in various tertiary institution of learning require relative developmental incentives apart from their field professionalism which to a greater extent influence their commitment to librarianship career. The aforementioned is either assertive or deniable hence the investigation of motivation as predictor of career commitment of librarians in universities in South-South Nigeria. The study empirically and comparatively examined academic staff perception of electronic information resources (EIRs) use on research productivity in six universities in Lagos and Ogun states of South west Nigeria. By ownership type, the universities include: federal (University of Lagos, Akoka and Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta); state (Lagos State University, Ojo and Tai-Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode) as well as private (Pan-African University, Ajah; Covenant University, Ota). This study evaluates the extent to which serials publications are accessible and used for learning purposes by the students in Nigerian Universities. The descriptive survey research design was adopted with the study population made up of students from one federal government owned university, one selected state owned university and one selected private owned university in Ogun state. A self-constructed questionnaire was used for data collection in this study, was analyzed using descriptive statistics and Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS).
