Zeno Of Elea: Where Space, Time, Physics, And Philosophy Converge An Everyman’S Introduction To An Unsung Hero Of Philosophy, William Turner
Mahurin Honors College Capstone Experience/Thesis Projects
Zeno of Elea, despite being among the most important of the Pre-Socratic philosophers, is frequently overlooked by philosophers and scientists alike in modern times. Zeno of Elea’s arguments on have not only been an impetus for the most important scientific and mathematical theories in human history, his arguments still serve as a basis for modern problems and theoretical speculations. This is a study of his arguments on motion, the purpose they have served in the history of science, and modern applications of Zeno of Elea’s arguments on motion.
The Nstp (Non-Spatial Thinking Process) Theory, Kedar Joshi
The Nstp (Non-Spatial Thinking Process) Theory, Kedar Joshi
Kedar Joshi
The NSTP theory is a (philosophy of mind) semi-idealistic as well as semi-dualistic theory that the material universe, the one in which peculiar phenomena like quantum non-locality exist, is exclusively a group of superhuman as well as non-superhuman thinking processes existing in the form of (non-spatial physical/material) feelings (i.e. states of consciousness). In computer terminology, it regards the (material) universe as a non-spatial computer, with hardware of (non-spatial) feelings and software of superhuman as well as non-superhuman thoughts/ideas, including those of space, which is then an illusive/virtual/merely apparent entity. The mere existence of the superhuman thoughts is responsible for the …

Strokes Of Existence: The Connection Of All Things, Mari Gorman
Graduate Student Publications and Research
Acted or real—and all life is real whether one is acting or not—the common denominator and consistent, ubiquitous reality of life and all behavior is that it manifests in the form of relationships on all scales. But what is a relationship? Until now, the answer to this question has not been sufficiently known. As a result of many years of empirical research that began with the aim of discovering what is going on in a gifted actor when s/he is playing a character that can be observed and experienced as a living, intuitive being, and based on the knowledge that …
The Challenge Of Understanding Radical Constructivism, Dewey I. Dykstra
The Challenge Of Understanding Radical Constructivism, Dewey I. Dykstra
Physics Faculty Publications and Presentations
Purpose: This contribution to the Festschrift honoring Ernst von Glasersfeld gives some insight into the perpetual problem of understanding radical constructivism (RC). Parallels with the Middle Way school of Buddhism appear to shed light on this challenge. Conclusions: The hegemony realism has over the thinking of even the most highly educated in our civilization plays a major role in their failure to understand RC. Those still subject to realism in their thinking interpret statements by those in RC in ways incompatible with RC. Until realists disequilibrate over mismatches between realist expectations and experiences, no alternative way of thinking is accessible …
