Factor analytic variance models have been widely considered for the analysis of multivariate data particularly in the psychometrics area. Recently Smith, Cullis & Thompson (2001) have considered their use in the analysis of multi-environment data arising from plant improvement programs. For these data, the size of the problem and the complexity of the variance models chosen to account for spatial heterogeneity within trials implies that standard algorithms for fitting factor analytic models can be computationally expensive. Most existing agent-oriented methodologies ignore system extensibility, interoperability and reusability issues. In light of this, we have developed MOBMAS – a “Methodology for Ontology-Based MASs” which makes use of ontologies as a central modeling tool, utilising their roles in facilitating interoperability and reusability. As part of an ongoing validation of MOBMAS, we demonstrate in this paper its use on a peer-to-peer (P2P) community-based information sharing application. MOBMAS is used by an experienced software developer, who is not an author of the methodology, to guide the development of the P2P application.

Most existing agent-oriented methodologies ignore system extensibility, interoperability and reusability issues. Ontologies have been found to play a significant role in facilitating interoperability, reusability, MAS development activities (including MAS analysis and agent knowledge modeling) and MAS run-time operation (including agent communication and reasoning). However, most of the existing AOSE methodologies do not provide support for ontology-based MAS development. We present software engineering requirements for ontology-based development for MAS and examine an existing methodology, MOBMAS - a "Methodology for Ontology-Based MASs", which makes use of ontologies as a modeling tool. BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The experience of clinicians at two public hospitals in Sydney, Australia, with the introduction and use of an oncology information system (OIS) was examined to extract lessons to guide the introduction of clinical information systems in public hospitals. METHODS AND MATERIALS: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 of 15 radiation oncologists employed at the two hospitals. The personnel involved in the decision making process for the introduction of the system were contacted and their decision making process revisited. Accounting information systems have improved conventional information control. Due to corporate meltdowns, corporate governance has come under greater scrutiny to improve practices of managing, retrieving and extracting accounting information within organizations. This paper introduces a framework for an ontology-driven accounting information system as a mean to share information in line of common agreement. The proposed approach contributes to weakening of asymmetric information and information transparency problems.

In this paper multiplicative mixed models have been used for the analysis of multi-environment trial (MET) data for canola oil and grain yield. Information on pedigrees has been included to allow for the modelling of additive and nonadditive genetic effects. The MET data set included a total of 19 trials (synonymous with sites or environments), which were sown across southern Australia in 2007 and 2008. Each trial was designed as a p-rep design using DiGGeR with the default prespecified spatial model.
