Precipitation Recorded In The Turkana Basin From 2005 To 2022., Acacia Leakey, Greg Henkes, Mae Saslaw, Dino Martins
Geosciences Research Data
This is a dataset of precipitation recorded at three sites in northern Kenya near Lake Turkana using standard rain gauges. The data was recorded at the Koobi Fora Research Station (3.947736, 36.186166) from March 2003 until 2006, at the Turkana Basin Institute’s Ileret facility (4.28510, 36.262158) from 2006 to 2022 and at the Turkana Basin Institute’s Turkwel facility (3.140825, 35.864599) from 2012 to 2022. The data was collected manually by TBI staff observing gradation lines on the collectors following rainfall events and recorded as a single total for each 24 hour period.

Michigan Tech Research Data
The file contains the data corresponding to the figures in the paper. Abstract for the paper: The convection-cloud chamber enables measurement of aerosol and cloud microphysics, as well as their interactions, within a turbulent environment under steady-state conditions. Increasing the size of a convection-cloud chamber, while holding the imposed temperature difference constant, leads to increased Rayleigh, Reynolds and Nusselt numbers. Large-eddy simulation coupled with a bin microphysics model allows the influence of increased velocity, time, and spatial scales on cloud microphysical properties to be explored. Simulations of a convection--cloud chamber, with fixed aspect ratio and increasing heights of H=1, 2, …

Department of Marine Sciences
Data on Connecticut embayment characteristics. This Excel file is the centerpiece for capturing embayment characteristics as presented in RESPEC (2022), developed specifically for this project. Some parameters such as watershed size, embayment size, and tidal range were pulled from other sources described in Appendix A of RESPEC (2022), but much of the data and indicators in the Excel file were developed for this project. Each parameter included in the spreadsheet is fully defined in Appendix A of RESPEC (2022). All data available in the spreadsheet are provided by embayment in Appendix C of RESPEC (2022), including the results of bathymetric …

The remote Kimberley coast of north-western Australia is one of the few marine environments domains on earth largely unaffected by human use. However, the region is undergoing increasing economic importance as a destination for tourism and significant coastal developments associated with oil and gas exploration. The objective of the project was to reconstruct a timeline of inferred water quality changes from the sediment record for a selected set of sites in the Kimberley, Western Australia. The project made use of palaeoecological approaches to reconstruct a chronology of change over the last approximately 100 years using a series of biogeochemical proxies …

Ultrahigh Resolution Ft-Icr Ms Data For Biomass Burning Emissions-Influenced Fog And Aerosol From The Po Valley, Matthew Brege, Lynn Mazzoleni
Lynn Mazzoleni
This dataset and the methods used to obtain it were described in "Molecular insights on aging and aqueous phase processing from ambient biomass burning emissions-influenced Po Valley fog and aerosol” submitted to Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics in March of 2018. Briefly, two samples of ambient fog water and two samples of ambient aerosol collected in the Po Valley (Italy) during the 2013 Supersito field campaign were analyzed using negative mode electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS). The extent of “fresh” vs. “aged” biomass burning influence was estimated prior to FT-ICR MS analysis using proton nuclear magnetic …

This dataset and the methods used to obtain it were described in “Molecular and physical characteristics of aerosol at a remote marine free troposphere site: Implications for atmospheric aging” submitted to Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics in February 2018. Briefly, three long-range transported organic aerosol samples were analyzed using negative mode electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS) with a mass resolving power of 400,000 (defined at m/z 400). FLEXPART retroplume simulations indicated that two of the samples (PMO-1 & PMO-3) were influenced by North American wildfire emissions transported in the free troposphere and one (PMO-2) by North …

Larval catch data after the oil spill is being used to improve our understanding of the causes of temporal variability as it relates to the Deep Water Horizon oil spill (DWHOS). Bongo and neuston net tows were conducted at 48 stations in both June and July, 2015 in the northern Gulf of Mexico. Cruise data collected at each site included latitude/longitude, date, time and environmental data (temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen). The occurrence and density of selected epipelagic (e.g., billfishes, tunas, dolphinfishes, flyingfishes) and deep pelagic (e.g., lanternfishes, bristlemouths, marine hatchetfishes) fish larvae were quantified and are being used to extend …
