This report discusses development of responsible aquaculture in the Republic of Croatia as part of the integrated coastal zone management and sustainable development of marine, coastal and islands natural and human resources. Based on literature review examples of aquaculture development and its constraints are presented, as well as possible solutions and recommendations. In addition, one attachment document provides brief summary information regarding Mediterranean lessons in aquaculture practices, while second document provides draft guidelines for sustainable aquaculture development in Croatia. The City of Virginia Beach is located on the southern shore of Chesapeake Bay (Figure 1). Ocean coast dunes were not included in this assessment. Primary tidal shorelines extend from Cape Henry westward to Little Creek Inlet. Eight (8) dune sites were identified along the City of Virginia Beach shoreline on the southern shore of Chesapeake Bay (Figure 2). The City of Hampton, Virginia is located along the western shore of Chesapeake Bay. Six dune sites were identified along Hampton's shoreline by site visits performed in 1999 and 2000. Most of the dunes are located along Chesapeake Bay between Old Point Comfort and Factory Point except of one site on Hampton Roads. It is the intent of this publication to provide the user with information on the status of dunes in the City of Hampton. This information comes from research performed in 1999 and 2000 which was presented in a report entitled "Chesapeake Bay Dune Systems: Evolution and Status".

Northumberland County, Virginia is located on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay. Primary tidal shorelines extend from Smith Point southward to Indian Creek along Chesapeake Bay and northwestward up the Potomac River to the Yeocomico River. Fifty-nine (59) dune sites were identified along the Northumberland County shoreline. Thirty seven (37) were located on Chesapeake Bay and the remainder along the Potomac River. Mathews County, Virginia is located along the western shore of Chesapeake Bay and is at the eastern end of Virginia’s Middle Peninsula (Figure 1). New protocols and procedures are needed to effectively implement many aspects of the new Virginia nontidal wetlands regulatory program. Effective implementation of the charge to assess and consider cumulative impacts of a proposed project on water quality and fish and wildlife resources will require a consistent and technically based assessment protocol implemented on a watershed basis. This project is the first step in development of the protocol for cumulative impact assessment.
