With the liberalization of abortion laws by the Supreme Court in 1973, American women have been able to obtain therapeutic abortions in hospitals and out-patient clinics in ever increasing numbers. With the increased number of women seeking abortions the medical field has responded with abortion procedures that are safe and relatively quick. With the speed doctors use to perform the procedure, many women may wish to take advantage of the medically safer method of abortion under local anesthesia. However, some women are unable to withstand the psychological and physical stress associated with a therapeutic abortion while awake. It would be …

The purpose of this study was to determine what sociocultural, sociodemographic, and sociopsychological factors the Sisters in four Wards in the Taipei Taiwan Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints perceived as keeping them from using the health services during the period from June 1975 to May 1976.

Forty-five Sisters, age twenty-one and older, were surveyed by a written questionnaire during Relief Society meetings during the last week in June and the first week in July 1966.

A majority of the Sisters were found to have experienced times when they did not avail themselves of the existing …

The South Carolina Clergy Consultation Service For Problem Pregnancy Records consist of correspondence, financial records, case study questionnaires and reference materials, documenting the efforts of the Pro-Choice organization (SCCCS) to provide counseling service for women seeking abortions. The SCCCS opened its services in 1970. Correspondents include Rev. Howard Moody, National Clergy Consultation Service Coordinator; South Carolina Senators Ernest F. Hollings, and Strom Thurmond; and South Carolina Congressman James R. Mann.
