In response to the Office of Inspector General's research report on atypical antipsychotic off label treatment of elderly dementia residents in long-term care, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services developed a non-pharmacological intervention known as the Hand In Hand training tool. This projects focus was on training the direct care nursing staff with the Hand In Hand tool and evaluating for decrease in behavior and psychological symptoms in their patients.
