Postpartum depression (PPD) occurs in 13-19% of women worldwide, and is a stigmatized medical condition affecting maternal and infantile long term outcomes. The purpose of this evidence-based practice project was to determine if women at high risk for PPD are affected by home visitation programs from discharge up to three years postpartum. CINHAL Ultimate, Google Scholar, and Medline databases were used. Current evidence supports the use of home-visitation programs for postpartum women to decrease the prevalence and the symptoms of PPD by allowing nurses access into homes to provide early intervention for PPD. Contingency management (CM), a therapeutic method that reinforces positive behaviors with incentives, may be a useful adjuvant to enhance treatment engagement and efficacy for those who struggle with SUD. This systematic review of literature was conducted using databases CINAHL, Cochrane, and PubMed from January 2010 to July 2021. The search yielded 132 initial records. Studies were included if they were written in English, peer reviewed, and randomized control trials. An experimental design was utilized to determine the effectiveness of home-based blood pressure monitoring (HBPM) in the management of prehypertension, newly diagnosed, or uncontrolled hypertension. A randomized convenience sample of 20 adults was recruited into a control (n=9) and experimental (n=11) group. Purpose/Goal Statement: Evaluate the effectiveness of group education in improving knowledge and self-reported compliance.

Clinical Question: In hypertensive patients, does increased education, including group educational seminars, increase knowledge and therefore self-reported compliance?

Methods: 45-minute group seminar designed to increase knowledge and promote compliance. Pre- and post-tests administered to evaluate effectiveness. Pre- and post-test means were calculated using Microsoft Excel. Eight-week follow up phone calls were made to evaluate self-reported compliance.

Findings: Mean pre-test score was 69%. Mean post-test score was 98%. A 29% …

In researching the literature on correct PPE by healthcare staff when a patient has C. diff. I have found that the policy on PPE for patients with C. diff at Baptist Health Paducah is compliant. The theoretical framework used for this research is that of Imogene King. Their policy is evidence based and is also cost effective when it comes to preventing the spread of infection from patient to patient. There is no need for change to this policy at this time because it is supported by evidence in the literature.
