“Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is the most common type of nutritional disorder worldwide, occurring in both developing and developed countries and affecting as many as one-fifth of the world population” (Huether & McCance, 2018, p. 934). There are many causes including bleeding (usually intestinal or menstrual), pregnancy, malnutrition, and malabsorption. Some of the signs and symptoms include fatigue, dizziness, headaches, exertional shortness of breath, cold intolerance, and paler than normal skin tones.
