The purpose of this evidence based project was to evaluate current literature and synthesize the best practice guidelines for debriefing and video-assisted debriefing (VAD) as it relates to simulation-based learning for undergraduate nursing students. Presently, high fidelity patient simulators (HFPS) and various debriefing techniques are used in many different occupational fields. Facilitator led verbal debriefing is a standard practice in nursing schools following a simulation to guide student reflection and learning. Newer technology, however, is now allowing for video-recording and annotation of simulations for enhanced debriefing sessions and can be used for immediate review. Intrauterine exposure to nicotine is one of the largest modifiable risk factors for infant morbidity and mortality. Previous progress toward decreasing the number impacted by intrauterine nicotine exposure has recently plateaued. While guidelines for assisting pregnant women to stop smoking are available, few providers have a formalized protocol in place. This project will evaluate most current research evidence regarding smoking cessation during pregnancy in order to develop a formalized protocol for implementation in an obstetric clinic in Southwest Ohio. Introduction: Mild Traumatic Brain Injuries (MTBIs) are some of the most common injuries that occur in the adolescent athlete population, and yet experts believe that MTBI’s are underreported. Most state athletic organizations require annual Pre-Participation Examinations in order to participate in high school sports. The purpose of this study was to research the effectiveness of the Ohio High School Athletic Association Pre-Participation Exam (OHSAA PPE) form in eliciting previous MTBIs.

Method: A descriptive, correlational study was conducted with 43 high school football players at a mass-screening event.

Medication nonadherence associated with inadequate knowledge of medications has been an enduring clinical problem among hypertensive adult patients. The combination of inadequate health literacy and medication nonadherence of hypertensive adult patients has been a major cause of uncontrolled hypertension. Several studies suggested inadequate or incorrect knowledge of medications in hypertensive adult patients was correlated with non-adherence to their antihypertensive medications. The challenge of inadequate pharmacologic knowledge among hypertensive adult patients must be overcome for two reasons. First, prescription medications play an extremely important role in managing hypertension. Second, hypertension is a significant healthcare concern in North America.
