ABSTRACT Purpose Although extensive research examines family caregivers (FCs) across populations, less attention has been paid to how lack of choice in assuming the role affects quality of life (QOL) among FCs of adults with cancer. Stress among nursing students is a well-documented problem that contributes to physical, mental, and emotional issues, substance abuse, and program dropout. A mindfulness-based stress reduction program was implemented with nursing students to evaluate its impact on perceived stress levels over a five-week period. A review of evidence-based articles provides strong evidence that this intervention correlates with reduced reported stress. An MBSRP was implemented with nursing students who completed a Perceived Stress Scale 10 (PSS-10) before the intervention and again after five weeks.

Results from this project showed a statistically significant reduction (t=2.725, p=0.025) in stress among the nursing student population …

Background: The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) can be a highly stressful environment for both infants and their parents. Poorer infant outcomes, including longer hospital stays, feeding difficulties, and delayed developmental progress can all be a reflection and outcome of elevated parental distress. Evaluating The Burnout Mitigating Effects Of A Structured Mentorship Program In Newly Hired Advanced Practice Providers, Melissa Soper

Importance: Burnout is a leading driver of clinician intent to leave, lower productivity, increased medical errors, and increased resource use.

 

Objective: The purpose of this project was to evaluate the effects of an evidence-based mentorship program on newly hired advanced practice providers’ (APPs’) level of stress, burnout, and professional fulfillment.

 

Results: At baseline, APPs demonstrated higher stress levels, moderate professional fulfillment, and low burnout. Outcomes showed improvement at the end of a mentorship program.

 

Conclusion: Longitudinal studies with larger sample sizes are needed to determine the true effect of a 6-month mentorship intervention on APP burnout, stress, and professional fulfillment.

Background

Nurse manager (NM) burnout is common and leads to decreased staff productivity, departmental effectiveness, and leadership capacity. This results in decreased staff morale, poor conflict management, and ineffective communication. Stress reduction and resilience programs have been shown to reduce burnout and enhance resilience in NMs, but more focus needs to be directed toward NMs who work in ambulatory settings.

The aim of this project was to evaluate the effectiveness of a peer-to-peer resilience intervention in reducing stress and burnout among ambulatory nurse managers.

The purpose of this quantitative experimental pretest -posttest design using an experimental and control group was to determine if gaming escape room simulation will decrease BSN nursing students' stress in high fidelity simulation (HFS). The sample size of 64 students had 32 students randomly assigned to each group, the control and the experimental group. Long-term stress can lead to healthcare provider burnout. Mindfulness-based interventions, even when shortened, may provide a promising and innovative method to reduce stress and prevent burnout. Research on mindfulness programs has demonstrated significant benefits for both providers and patients. The purpose of this mixed-methods single-case study was to explore methods that pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students at a Christian university used to improve their resilience. Lazarus and Folkman's Transactional Model of Stress and Coping (1984) was employed as a theoretical framework, and the study asked: What methods did pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students at a Christian university use to manage stress and improve resilience? Background: In 2019, over five million pediatric hospitalizations occurred in the United States. Burnout is a significant occupational hazard for Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses. High patient acuity, staffing shortages, and long shift hours increase stress and diminish well-being among nurses, affecting patient care outcomes. This study examined the prevalence of stress and burnout among ICU nurses to identify contributing factors and potential interventions. An anonymous online survey was conducted among 110 ICU nurses, utilizing the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and the Perceived Stress Scale(PSS). Purpose: The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the effects of animal-assisted therapy (AAT) on undergraduate student anxiety and stress, comparing the effectiveness between an individual AAT session to a group study session without AAT. Background: It is essential to evaluate students’ readiness before graduation and support them with education accordingly. This study investigates the effect of the level of readiness for professional practice as a purpose on the self-efficacy and clinical stress perceptions of nursing students.

The study included 733 3rd and 4th-year students studying nursing departments at state universities in Turkey. Test anxiety has been identified as a significant problem in pre-licensure nursing students. This project aims to investigate how aromatherapy can alleviate the stress and anxiety associated with lower test scores and the emotional and psychological impacts it has on students' overall well-being. A literature review supported that students who experience test anxiety characteristically scored lower on high-stakes nursing exams than students who did not experience the same stress. Introduction/Background: The nursing shortage in the United States continues to pose a significant challenge due to the widening gap between the supply of and demand for qualified nurses.
