Background: When mental health issues are left untreated in children, there is an increased risk for poor school performance, substance abuse, and missing essential experiences in life. School-based cognitive-behavioral therapy programs improve negative emotions, increase student positive experiences, increase coping skills knowledge, and provide adequate resources for effective mental health management of symptoms. School-based -behavioral therapy programs improve childhood mental health outcomes and promote coping skills utilization amongst pediatric populations.

Purpose: To implement Creating Opportunities for Personal Empowerment (COPE) a cognitive behavioral therapy program in a private school-based setting to assist children in obtaining optimal mental health outcomes.

Purpose: The purpose of this project was to increase HPV vaccination initiation rates in a primary care setting. This was accomplished through evidence-based provider and parental education using presumptive language and distribution of a customized toolkit. Design: The project protocol was designed using a theoretical approach about chosen health behaviors from the Health Belief Model. Outcomes included initiation rates, efficacy of a toolkit intervention, efficacy of a recall system, and provider satisfaction. Methods: A two-sided Fisher’s Exact Test was performed. Gastrointestinal (GI) discomfort including antibiotic associated diarrhea (AAD) is a common side effect of antibiotic therapy. As antibiotic use continues to increase, more patients are affected by AAD. Significant evidence has been found on using probiotics for the treatment and prevention of GI distress and AAD. Provider education is needed in the clinical setting to share evidence and make recommendations on best practice. The goal of this intervention was to increase the rate at which providers prescribe probiotics in tandem with antibiotics, via increased provider education.
