Vibration And Audio-Visual Stimulation: How Effective In Reducing Invasive Nursing Procedural Pain?, Saju Thotta Parambil Ms, Ratna Prakash, Christopher Sudhaker Dr

Manipal Journal of Nursing and Health Sciences

Introduction: The pain related to high-volume minor invasive nursing procedures usually dealt with non-pharmacological measures because they are safe, inexpensive and can be performed independently by a nurse. Mechanizing these measures may reduce the complexity and help to deliver consistent and standardized therapy most of the time. Objectives: This research inquires the analgesic use of machine delivered vibration and audio-visual stimulation, to reduce pain sensation during minor invasive nursing procedures. The study also tries to find out the association between the study subject’s selected personal variables and the degree of effectiveness of these stimulations. Methods: Researcher developed and validated a …

Introduction: Pain is developed, when there is certain illness or injury. Patients under mechanical ventilator commonly experience pain, which is often overlooked. Factors such as stage of illness, invasive-procedures, and surgical interventions often aggravate pain in critical patients. Objective: The objective of this study was to assess pain levels among mechanically ventilated patients during routine nursing procedures by using the behavioral pain scale (BPS). Method: Non-experimental study was conducted among 30 mechanically ventilated patients admitted in ICU (Intensive Care Unit), in Down Town hospital Guwahati, Assam during different nursing interventions, fifteen patients were assessed during turning and fifteen patients were …

Effectiveness Of Video Assisted Diversional Therapy And Application Of Local Anaesthetic Agent On Pain, Behavioural Response And Physiological Parameters Among Children During Intravenous (Iv) Cannulation, Litna George Ms, Anjalin D'Souza Mrs, Anice George Dr

Manipal Journal of Nursing and Health Sciences

Intravenous (IV) cannulation is a common procedure done in hospitals. Although it is an essential procedure providing easy access for IV hydration or medication, its insertion leads to pain, anxiety and distress in children. The study was undertaken with the objective of comparing the effectiveness of video assisted diversional (VAD) therapy and application of local anaesthetic (LA) agent on pain relief, behavioural response and physiological parameters among children. Methods: The study was done using an experimental post-test only control group design. The participants were randomized to one of the three groups, with 25 subjects in each group: experimental group 1 …
