African American (AA) women continue to have the lowest rates of breastfeeding. This continues to create a health disparity even though breastfeeding is extensively recognized in the scientific and health care communities as the optimal feeding choice for infants. This study examined the relationship between the external variables (social support network and community resources) and the explanatory variables (attitudes, norms, and perceived self-efficacy) and intention to breastfeed, for the AA, first time, low-income, emerging adult pregnant woman. A large healthcare organization’s 26-bed, medical-surgical, telemetry, COVID-19 overflow unit was significantly impacted. Many healthcare organizations have adopted advocacy for attaining joy in work as an extra dimension of the Institute for Health Improvement’s Triple Aim. Adding this fourth aim supports averting caregiver burnout (CBO) while promoting joy in work.

Primary care patients in an outpatient clinic in Southern California with elevated blood pressure readings in the office did not have an organized system for close follow-up. The purpose of this evidence-based project (EBP) was to educate patients on self-measured blood pressure monitoring (SMBP), Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH), diet interventions, and healthy weight loss to improve hypertension rates. Statement of research problem: Nurse practitioner led clinics (NPLC) in Ontario (ON) represent a model of care that is potentially well-situated to improve primary healthcare delivery. There is currently limited knowledge about this model of cares impact on patients with chronic disease. This study explored current chronic disease management practices implemented by Nurse Practitioners (NP) within NPLCs across ON.

Methods: Using a qualitative interpretive description methodology, eleven in-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with nurse practitioners practicing within NPLCs in Ontario.

In 2018, 49% of all pregnancies in the United States were unintended, with women with a lower- income status being five times more likely to experience an unplanned pregnancy. Tennessee has a high rate of unintended pregnancies, particularly among the uninsured, low-income, and rural teen populations; some 22% of these unintended pregnancies end in abortion. Oral or transdermal contraceptives that are affordable and accessible for women of childbearing age can reduce unintentional pregnancies. Problem: Skilled nursing facility (SNF) patients are vulnerable, aging, and have complex medical histories. Readmissions from an SNF impact healthcare costs and hospital resources and indicate poorly coordinated transitions home. Patients discharging from SNFs are at risk for higher social determinants of health (SDOH) disparities, such as limited caregiver support, transportation, housing insecurity, and food access. These SDOH risks can significantly increase an SNF patient's risk for hospital readmissions.
