Burnout is a problem among workers in Nigeria, especially among nurses (Ozumba, & Alabere, 2019). This study examined whether there was a significant relationship between the employee perception of the servant leadership behaviors of the nurse supervisor and the employee’s self-rating of burnout: exhaustion and disengagement, and servant leadership behaviors of the nurse supervisor, and engagement: vigor, dedication, and absorption. Exhaustion refers to an intensive physical, affective, and cognitive strain while disengagement refers to the distancing of oneself from one’s work, and experiencing negative attitudes toward the work object, work content, or one’s work in general (Demerouti et al., 2001). …

The school nurse (SN) is often the sole health care expert in the school setting, providing for the physical and socio-emotional needs of others. SN may be exposed to reports of trauma, a widespread and costly public health issue. This study sought to explore the experience of the SN when exposed to reports of trauma from those in their care. Seven N.J. certified school nurses participated in two online interviews via Microsoft Teams, spaced one to two weeks apart between June 2021 and September 2021. An existing virtual care platform provides an innovative means of early recognition, identification, and intervention for women with elevated blood pressures during pregnancy, known as preeclampsia. A pilot program took place at a Northeastern prenatal care clinic where patients were identified as high-risk for preeclampsia, enrolled, educated by their providers, and equipped with Bluetooth-enabled blood pressure cuffs.

Through remote patient monitoring (RPM) technology, blood pressure readings could transmit from a patient’s residence to a portal accessible by their clinic provider at any time. An important component of nursing assessment of feeding tolerance in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for both low-risk and high-risk babies, is the quantification of emesis volumes. While some nurses attempt to weigh the items saturated in emesis in order to quantify volume loss (QEV), there is no or limited consistency in this practice across nurses in this unit. Rather, volumes are “best-guessed” or estimated (EEV) and reported to the practitioner for decision-making. Often feed advances are paused or limited due to perceived feeding intolerance connected to emesis events in neonates.

This descriptive correlational study examined the relationships among perceived stress, birth satisfaction, and breastfeeding self-efficacy in women in the early postpartum period. The study, guided by self-efficacy and stress and coping theories, aimed to identify factors related to breastfeeding self-efficacy, an important psychological variable in sustained breastfeeding. The sample (N =107) was comprised of primarily well-educated, higher income, non-Hispanic White (69.8%) women recruited from a single New Jersey hospital in the first four days postpartum.
