BACKGROUND: Psychosocial consequences frequently accompany the diagnosis of malignant melanoma (MM), such as fear, anxiety, burden, and distress. Patients are not receiving the proper psychiatric care needed to address the psychosocial consequences they are experiencing. Patients diagnosed with MM have expressed a lack of assessment and supportive care by providers to address psychosocial consequences they are experiencing.

BACKGROUND: Nurse practitioners (NPs) practicing in retail health face issues that complicate provision of care including isolation, lack of support staff, and non-clinical administrative and business duties. To address this, a national retail health company implemented a mentorship program for newly graduated, newly hired NPs. This quality improvement project will facilitate the implementation and evaluation of this mentorship program in one of the company’s regions in Georgia.

AVAILABLE KNOWLEDGE: Literature suggests that NPs believe that a mentor can help contribute to professional development, counter stress and anxiety, provide support, increase job satisfaction, and guide in critical decision making.

Background: College of nursing leaders can foster organizational learning as a means of achieving their desired organizational outcomes. Organizational learning has not previously been studied in colleges of nursing, leaving college administrators and faculty little guidance as they strive to improve outcomes in their own colleges.

Background: Research shows that despite an increase in the number of organizational improvement initiatives there is a lack of consistent, sustained outcomes. Organizations struggle with how to reliably and accurately measure their readiness to drive and sustain outcomes. A search of the literature failed to identify a comprehensive, evidence-based tool that has been developed or evaluated to assess organizational improvement readiness. Hospitals in a nonprofit mountain west corporation conducted a gap analysis to determine readiness for Magnet Recognition. Major gaps included nursing research and availability of consultation and resources for research. Based on the findings, the development of a dynamic research program promoting nursing research and evidence-based practice within hospitals was undertaken. A nursing research council was reestablished with representatives from service and academia. A literature review and analysis of corporate/academia resources were completed.
