Cardiovascular disease has been known to be the leading cause of mortality in patients with type 2 diabetes. With diabetes on the rise in the United States, it is important to assess changes in these patients to decrease the risk of developing cardiovascular disease or a major cardiovascular event such as a myocardial infarction, stroke, or death.
