The Relationship Between Emotion Regulation And Substance Use Treatment Attrition, Melanie Ruth Roys
LSU Doctoral Dissertations
Severe substance use disorders are characterized by chronic cycles of relapse; however, individuals who complete substance use treatment are less likely to experience relapse. Research has focused on trying to identify factors that predict treatment dropout to help improve treatment outcomes. Most of this research has focused on examining demographic and patient-specific factors, with little success in reliably predicting treatment attrition. There has been less focus on investigating transdiagnostic factors that span across discrete psychological diagnoses and demographics. The present study sought to determine if self-report and behavioral measures related to emotion regulation predicted inpatient substance use treatment dropout above …
Five Love Languages: Assessment Of Marital Satisfaction In African American Couples, Freddricka C. Lee
Five Love Languages: Assessment Of Marital Satisfaction In African American Couples, Freddricka C. Lee
LSU Master's Theses
This mixed-methods study examined marital satisfaction among five (n = 10) heterosexual, African American married couples. In particular, this study examined how acknowledging a partner’s love language (Chapman, 1995) can affect these couples’ level of marital satisfaction. The participants were native to the South and ranged from 26-55 years of age. Quantitative and qualitative analysis of the data revealed couples were satisfied with their marriages. Although only marginally significant, the findings also revealed acknowledging a spouse’s love language was positively related to higher levels of marital satisfaction. Seven themes emerged throughout the interviews, namely communication; financial stability; understand a spouse’s …
Predictive Modeling Of Fmol Health System Utilization Using Machine Learning Algorithms And Retrospective Study Of Covid Tested Patients, Ramyakrishna Tummala
Predictive Modeling Of Fmol Health System Utilization Using Machine Learning Algorithms And Retrospective Study Of Covid Tested Patients, Ramyakrishna Tummala
LSU Master's Theses
Overutilization of Emergency Departments (ED) is a major problem among the health care providers in the United States. In this research, a machine learning-based predictive model for predicting ED high utilizers will be designed based on a set of existing and proposed facilities and the population and social determinant of health (SDOH) factors influencing utilization. The purpose of the model will be to alert the healthcare systems and government organizations by identifying the reasons for overutilization of the medical services among the people in a particular community. Also, the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) developed in Whunan city, China has …
