Pending claims involving BPJS Kesehatan remain a challenge in the healthcare financing system in Indonesia. This condition hinders the receipt of JKN funds by healthcare facilities. In general, pending claims arise due to inconsistencies in files, disease and/or action codes, or the determination of medical measures. The same problem also occurred at Tk. III Hospital 03.06.01 Ciremai, Cirebon City, with the continued discovery of pending inpatient BPJS claims in 2025. Based on these conditions, this study aims to describe the causes of pending inpatient BPJS claims based on administrative, coding, and medical aspects. This study aims to describe the causes …

Electronic medical records (EMRs) are essential to modern healthcare systems, yet their implementation continues to face challenges such as disruption of doctor–patient communication, administrative burden, and documentation structures misaligned with clinicians’ clinical reasoning processes. This narrative review aims to assess the limitations of conventional EMRs and examine the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to improve documentation efficiency, accuracy, and overall clinical performance. The literature indicates that AI technologies, including machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing, can automate documentation, streamline workflows, enhance decision support, and reduce physician burnout, thereby allowing clinicians to devote more attention to patient care. Nevertheless, …

Clinical Pathway Sebagai Solusi Keberlanjutan Jkn Di Indonesia: Systematic Review, Septiana Septiana, Siti Soekiswati, Burhannudin Ichsan
Jurnal Ekonomi Kesehatan Indonesia
The National Health Insurance (JKN) program is threatened with a deficit and potential default in 2026 due to inefficiency and the risk of fraud in healthcare facilities. In the context of JKN, which uses a package system (INA-CBG), Clinical Pathway (CP) is a strategic instrument within the JKN system that has dual benefits for both Payers (BPJS Kesehatan) and Providers (Hospitals). For BPJS Kesehatan, CP primarily functions to ensure service quality and prevent undertreatment fraud, the practice of reducing services to benefit hospitals. This prevention ultimately achieves cost efficiency in the JKN program by avoiding payment of complication claims and …

In recent decades, global efforts to reduce maternal mortality have become a primary focus in health development agendas. However, challenges in providing quality healthcare remain complex, especially in resource-limited countries. Adrienne E. Strong’s book, Documenting Death: Maternal Mortality and the Ethics of Care in Tanzania, offers an ethnographic perspective on the relationship between bureaucratic structures, resource constraints, and healthcare practices in Tanzania. This review examines Strong’s key concepts, such as good enough care, documented care, and fierce care, which highlight the ethical dilemmas faced by healthcare workers in delivering care under administrative pressures and limited facilities. The critique of the …

Makara Journal of Health Research
Background: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between religious attitudes and breastfeeding attitudes and the effect of this relationship on breastfeeding practices.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 251 older adults. Data were collected using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire, the Standardized Mini-Mental State Examination, and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. Spearman’s correlation and chi-square tests were employed for statistical analysis.
Results: Physical activity levels were positively correlated with both cognitive function (r = 0.546, p < 0.001) and self-esteem (r = 0.168, p < 0.05). No significant association was observed between cognitive function and self-esteem. Physical inactivity, cognitive decline, and low self-esteem were more prevalent among women, participants with lower educational attainment, those with chronic diseases, and individuals engaged in polypharmacy.
Conclusions: The findings emphasize the importance of integrating physical activity promotion into national healthy ageing policies, particularly in Mediterranean contexts such …

Cesarean section unit cost is an important component for hospital’s management to implement strategic efficiency steps in the future, especially for Rumah Sakit X which 90% of patients are Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional’s participant. Geographically, this hospital is one of hospitals which serve delivery and labor services in Ternate Island that can accommodate references from nearby islands. This resulting in high caesarean section rate, 55 % of all deliveries. The low JKN rate for caesarean section forced management to know the detailed cost component, so the efficiency strategies and the continuity of hospital services could be more increased. This research through …
