In the United States, many patients cannot speak English well enough to communicate with their medical providers. Many of these patients use professional interpreter services offered by their medical organizations to help with communication, which can lead to miscommunication due to the translation process between patients, interpreters, and physicians, and to incorrect diagnosis and poor health outcomes for the patient. The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences of Spanish-speaking patients who used interpreter services with their physicians.
