The Relative Occlusal Force Of Natural Tooth Adjacent To Distal Extension Implant Support Fixed Prosthesis Using T-Scan Analysis : A Cross Sectional Study, Chin Purintarapiban

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Objective: This cross-sectional study aimed to compare the relative occlusal force between implant in the distal end and tooth adjacent to implant in maximum intercuspation. Methodology: Patients with implant restoration replacing teeth in free end space adjacent to natural tooth were recalled. The occlusion is examined as shim stock passes through the occluded tooth in heavy or light bites. The heavy bite or a light bite with shim stock that cannot pull through is HB1 or LB1. If the shim stock can pull through it is considered HB0 or LB0. The implant is classified into 3 groups, HB1LB0, HB1LB1, and …

Efficacy Of Chitosan Paste As Intracanal Medication Against Enterococcus Faecalis And Candida Albicans Compared To Calcium Hydroxide, Pasika Thien-Ngern

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Introduction: Enterococcus faecalis and Candida albicans are frequently found in persistent endodontic infection and are resistant to calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2), a commonly used intracanal medication. Thus, an effective and safe antimicrobial medication against such refractory infection is necessary in endodontic retreatment, so we aimed to test the efficacy of chitosan paste against these microorganisms compared with Ca(OH)2 in root canals of extracted human teeth. Methods: Thirty-six sterilized human root samples prepared from extracted premolars and upper maxillary incisors were infected with E.faecalis for 14 days, while 32 were infected with C.albicans for 48 hours, for mature biofilm formation. The samples …

Anti-Inflammatory And Regeneration Properties Of Iloprost On Inflamed Human Dental Pulp Cells Model: An In Vitro Study, Rahman Wahyudi

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

In the clinical situation, pulp exposure can happen during caries removal procedures. Inflammation can occur on the pulp of the exposed area because of infiltration of bacteria from caries or as a result of pulp reaction to caries removal drilling. When the pulp was exposed during the caries removal procedure, traditional methods to preserve the pulp such as pulp capping and pulpotomy were performed. The ideal treatment outcome of the pulp exposure is to regain the primary structure of tubular dentin as well as maintain the vitality and healthiness of the dental pulp Thus, good dental materials or drugs used …

Role Of Extracellular Adenosine Triphosphate (Eatp) On Immunomodulatory Function Of Human Periodontal Ligament Cells, Maythwe Kyawsoewin

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Background: Adenosine triphosphate, a nucleotide that acts as an important extracellular messenger, is released into the extracellular environment during various physiologic and pathological conditions. Human periodontal ligament cells (hPDLCs) can release adenosine triphosphate into the extracellular environment in response to mechanical stress. Extracellular adenosine triphosphate (eATP) plays role in both inflammation and osteogenic differentiation processes. eATP also participates in immunosuppressive action on immune cells. However, the role of eATP on the immunomodulatory function of hPDLCs is still unclear. This study aims to investigate the effects of eATP on the immunomodulatory function of hPDLCs and the participation of specific purinergic P2 …

Effect Of Shear Force On Immunosuppressive Property Of Human Periodontal Ligament Cells, Ravipha Suwittayarak Jan 2021

Effect Of Shear Force On Immunosuppressive Property Of Human Periodontal Ligament Cells, Ravipha Suwittayarak

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

The immunomodulatory property is to regulate immune cell function. IDO and TGF-β1 inhibited T cell proliferation and induced regulatory T (Treg) cells differentiation. However, this property must be activated by inflammation. Recently, mechanical forces have also activated this property. Hence, this study investigated effect of shear stress on immunosuppressive property of hPDL cells. Cells were subjected to shear stress then expression of IDO, TGF-β1, IFN-gamma and COX2 mRNA and protein was examined by qRT-PCR, ELISA, and IDO activity. Conditioned media derived shear stress were treated with CD4+ T cells. The proliferative T cell effect was determined using resazurin. The FOXP3, …

Effects Of Local Versus Systemic Administration Of Cxcr4 Inhibitor Amd3100 On Orthodontic Tooth Movement In Rats, Narubhorn Ongprakobkul

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Chemokines play pivotal roles in orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) through osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. We aimed to elucidate the effects of serial local vs systemic administration of the chemokine receptor CXCR4 antagonist AMD3100 on OTM. The maxillary right first molar (M1) of rats was moved mesially using a 10 g of force nickel-titanium coil spring. The injections were performed every other day with phosphate-buffered saline as a control, whereas local and systemic animals were injected with AMD3100 at the buccal palatal mucosa adjacent to M1 and subcutaneously, respectively. OTM distance and alveolar bone were examined …

The Designs Of Miniscrew-Assisted Transpalatal Arch Affect Molar Intrusion, Ornnicha Pooktuantong Jan 2021

The Designs Of Miniscrew-Assisted Transpalatal Arch Affect Molar Intrusion, Ornnicha Pooktuantong

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Abstract: An anterior open bite is one of the most difficult malocclusions in orthodontic treatment. For such malocclusion, orthodontic miniscrews insertion into both buccal and palatal alveolar regions has been indicated for molar intrusion, but it involves a risk of tooth root injury. To solve the problem, midpalatal miniscrew-attached extension arm (MMEA) is adopted. However, this method causes palatal tipping of the molar because intrusive loads were applied only from palatal side. Currently, transpalatal arch is added to avoid tipping movement, but it induces patient's discomfort. Hence, the objective of this study was to evaluate the loading conditions for maxillary …

Pregnant Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed to IH (3-min periods of 4–21% O2) compared to Normoxia for 8 hours/day during gestational days 7–20. GH and MAS from 35-day-old male offspring (n = 6 /group) were …
