The Effects Of Preadministration Of Local Anesthetic On Pulsed Radiofrequency, Tüli̇n Arici, Mustafa Kurçaloğlu, İdri̇s Şevki̇ Köken, Bora Uzuner, Can Eyi̇gör, Meltem Uyar

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: Pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) has been reported to be a safe and reliable method for the management of a variety of chronic pain syndromes. It is not known whether the preadministration of local anesthetic increases the size of the electrical field. We revealed the effects of administering local anesthetic on PRF and investigated whether they were related to local anesthetic or fluid effects. Materials and methods: Group 1 (n = 18) received PRF to the suprascapular nerve with 1 mL of bupivacaine, group 2 (n = 20) received PRF with 1 mL of physiological saline solution, and group 3 (n …

Reliability And Validity Of The Turkish Version Of Pain Assessment Checklist For Seniorswith Limited Ability To Communicate (Pacslac-T), Öznur Büyükturan, Buket Büyükturan, Aysu Yeti̇ş, Mehmet İlki̇n Naharci, Nuray Kirdi

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: This study aimed to assess validity and reliability of the Turkish version of Pain Assessment Checklist for Seniors with Limited Ability to Communicate (PACSLAC-T). Materials and methods: The individuals who met inclusion criteria of the study were in patients of a hospital and a long-term care facility. Mini Mental Status Exam (MMSE), Cornell Dementia Depression Scale (CDDS), Global Deterioration Scale (GDS), visual analogue scale (VAS), and PACSLAC-T were administered to all subjects. The scales were repeated with an interval of two weeks for test-retest reliability. Results: A total of 112 patients with dementia were included in the study. The …

Radiological And Functional Comparison Of Single-Bundle Anterior Cruciate Ligamentreconstruction: Transtibial Versus Anteromedial Technique, Mustafa Özer, Hamza Özer, Hakan Yusuf Selek, Yaşar Gül Baltaci, Gülcan Harput, Anil Taşkesen, Mehmet Çeti̇nkaya Jan 2018

Radiological And Functional Comparison Of Single-Bundle Anterior Cruciate Ligamentreconstruction: Transtibial Versus Anteromedial Technique, Mustafa Özer, Hamza Özer, Hakan Yusuf Selek, Yaşar Gül Baltaci, Gülcan Harput, Anil Taşkesen, Mehmet Çeti̇nkaya

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: This study aimed to compare radiological and functional outcomes of patients who had single-bundle anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with autologous hamstring tendon grafts using transtibial (TT) versus anteromedial (AM) femoral tunnel drilling techniques. Materials and methods: Sixty patients who had been operated on between 2010 and 2013 were enrolled in this study. Tunnel positions and widenings in the femur and tibia were evaluated with radiographs, arthrometric measurements with a Rolimeter arthrometer (Aircast, Summit, NJ, USA), stability assessment with Lachman and reverse pivot shift tests, and functional assessment with the International Knee Documentation Committee and Tegner and Lysholm scoring …

Reliability And Validity Of The Turkish Version Of Thefoot Function Index In Patients With Foot Disorders, Bahar Külünkoğlu, Nesli̇han Firat, Nazim Tolgahan Yildiz, Afra Alkan

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: The Foot Function Index (FFI) is a valid, reliable, and widely used self-reported questionnaire for the foot. The purpose of this study was to provide evidence for the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the FFI (FFI-TR) among patients with foot disorders such as plantar fasciitis, hallux valgus, pes planus, and hammertoe deformities. Materials and methods: One hundred and fifty-nine patients with foot disorders were enrolled. The psychometric properties of the previously translated and adapted FFI-TR were assessed. The internal consistency and test-retest reliability were evaluated. Construct validity was examined for correlations with the Short Form-36 (SF-36) …

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) frequently affects the small joints of the hand and may result in difficulty in activities of daily living. There are very few studies evaluating the problems encountered in the hands in patients with SLE. The aim of this study is to evaluate hand functions in patients with SLE and compare them with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients and healthy subjects. Materials and methods: A total 46 female patients meeting the SLE classification criteria were recruited. Similarly, 51 female RA patients and 46 healthy female subjects served as the control groups. To assess the upper extremity disability …
