The study was designed to evaluate the therapeutic effect of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) on the rehabilitation of patients with piriformis syndrome. Thirty-six patients diagnosed with unilateral piriformis syndrome were included and allocated randomly into three groups, Groups A-C, with twelve patients in each group. Patients in Groups A-C all received conventional physical modalities programs, including hot packs and interferential current therapy, three times weekly for six weeks. The Y-Balance Test-Lower Quarter has shown promise as a screening tool for identifying athletes at risk of injury. Subsequent studies, utilizing heterogeneous populations or different operational definitions of injury, have presented equivocal findings. Therefore, studies evaluating the efficacy of the Y-Balance Test to discriminate injury risk in a homogeneous population is warranted. One-hundred sixty-nine male (mean age 19.9 + 1.5 y) collegiate basketball players were recruited during 2 consecutive seasons (2016–2017/2017–2018). A thorough needs assessment at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Largo revealed slight dissatisfaction scores on the Press Ganey survey for both the occupational therapy department and discharge planning processes. This quality improvement project, Take Charge for Therapy Discharge, implemented a two-session patient education protocol using the Cognitive Orientation to Occupational Performance (CO-OP) approach. Using the Patient-Specific Functional Scale (PSFS), participants identified and prioritized three therapy goals and rated their perceived current performance. Results demonstrated a significant difference between the participants’ PSFS pre and post-intervention scores. The primary purpose of this study was to evaluate the construct validity of the Questionnaire to Identify Knee Symptoms (QuIKS) measurement scale among individuals with chronic knee symptoms consistent with osteoarthritis. Construct validity was assessed using tests of convergent and discriminative validity on 15 pre-specified hypotheses. The secondary objective was to determine the internal consistency reliability of the QuIKS. One hundred and five individuals recruited in select physiotherapy clinics from across Canada were mailed the QuIKS and five other health questionnaires. PURPOSE: Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of two different pain neuroscience education (PNE) lectures provided to physician assistant (PA) students. Primary outcomes explored were knowledge of pain and shift in attitudes and beliefs about chronic pain after the lecture.

METHODS: A PNE lecture was provided at two separate university PA programs. One program received a two-hour PNE lecture with a case-based example. The other program received a one-hour PNE lecture without the casebased example. Measurement of change for pre and post-test pain knowledge and attitudes and beliefs about chronic pain were recorded.

The purpose of this case study is to determine the effects of core stabilization and pelvis mobility training for a 28-week pregnant female to improve function and decrease pain.

Low back pain during pregnancy is a common occurrence that affects a majority of the population.¹ Over the five treatment sessions, the patient was able to tolerate a full ten-hour work shift and sleep through the night. She also showed improvements in muscle strength and flexibility. As seen in non-pregnant females, the patient was able to have a decrease in pain and improvement in function with these techniques.⁴

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Clinician Rated Drop Vertical Jump Scale (CR-DVJS) in a population of patients following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). Patients completed two drop vertical jump tasks at 6 and/or 12-months post-operative. One task was recorded using a motion capture system. Four individuals of varying clinical experience served as raters for the CR-DVJS. Rater scores of valgus collapse did not correlate strongly with motion capture measures of knee abduction moment or angle. Myotonic dystrophy type 2 (DM2) is a progressive muscular dystrophy with multi-system manifestations and can affect functional mobility, gait, and balance. Currently, there are few reports of functional outcome measures in this population. This case describes the change in function detected by the High-level Mobility Assessment Tool (HiMAT) and 30-second Chair Stand Test (CST) in a high-functioning adult female with DM2 after physical therapy treatment.
