A shared mental model is a concept from high reliability environments, like aviation, to help teams develop collective understanding of how they will work together to safely accomplish their goals. Areas of high-risk health care like the operating room have adapted this concept to improve interdisciplinary teamwork and thus improve patient outcomes. Non-technical skills including communication, situational awareness, task management and leadership are employed to produce a functional shared mental model. Background: As obesity affects different dimensions of health, psychosocial wellbeing of patients can be predicted to significantly improve after bariatric surgery.
Method: This qualitative study focused on determining the experience of patients who underwent bariatric surgery and the psychosocial impact of it on their daily lives and provides nurses with detailed information regarding patients’ experience. While some of these outcomes were in line with the literature, they have also revealed new aspects and provided deeper understanding regarding individuals’ experiences.

We will begin by reviewing the ongoing debate of technical versus caring nursing practices. The aim of this study was to identify which items should be included in a pre-operative checklist based on recommendations by nurse experts in order to promote patient safety and effective communication in the perioperative environment.
Method: Thirty-five nurses participated in this e-Delphi study, which was conducted online via SurveyMonkey.. Each survey presented participants with a list of potential items for inclusion in a pre-operative checklist. Participants were asked to identify items they felt should be included in the checklist with the option to include comments.
