Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a lecture-based safety strategy training program on new nurses’ level of knowledge about how to reduce errors when providing patient care.

Conceptual Framework: Patricia Benner’s Novice to Expert model of knowledge and skill acquisition in nurses was the conceptual framework used for understanding how nurses acquire knowledge, skill and experience as well as their propensity for error at different stages of development.

Schizophrenia is a debilitating disease that affects approximately 21 million people worldwide (APA, 2013). The gold standard of treatment of schizophrenia is antipsychotic medications. Unfortunately, approximately 50% of patients become non-compliant with their prescribed medications (Sadock, Sadock & Ruiz, 2015). PURPOSE:The purpose of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of various concerns among left ventricular assist device (LVAD) patients and evaluate the effect of an educational video intervention on reducing those concerns in a single-center adult LVAD population.

METHODS:A 15-point LVAD Concerns Scale was created to evaluate the prevalence of specific device-related concerns.
