In the United States 29.1 million people have diabetes, or 1 out of every 11 people. The rate of new cases of diagnosed diabetes has begun to fall, but the numbers are still very high. 86 million people are living with prediabetes, a serious health condition that increases a person’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and other chronic diseases (1). Unfortunately, 90% of those 86 million people are unaware that they are at risk.
