OBJECTIVE: Depression is common in individuals with chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CCLE). However, how CCLE may impact patients' psychological well-being is poorly understood, particularly among disproportionally affected populations. We examined the relationships between depression and psychosocial factors in a cohort of predominantly Black patients with primary CCLE (CCLE without systemic manifestations).

METHODS: Cross-sectional assessment of individuals with dermatologist-validated diagnosis of primary CCLE. NIH-PROMIS short-forms were used to measure depression, disease-related stigma, social isolation and emotional support. Linear regression analyses (ɑ=0.05) were used to test an a priori conceptual model of the relationship between stigma and depression and the effect of …

Importance: Many older adults with depression do not experience remission with antidepressant treatment, and markers of cellular senescence in late-life depression (LLD) are associated with greater severity of depression, greater executive dysfunction, and higher medical illness burden. Since these clinical characteristics are associated with remission in LLD, molecular and cellular senescence abnormalities could be a possible biological mechanism underlying poor treatment response in this population.

Objective: To examine whether the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) index was associated with the likelihood of remission from a depressive episode in older adults.

Design, Setting, and Participants: A nonrandomized, open-label clinical trial was conducted …

Depression Interventions For Individuals With Coronary Artery Disease - Cost-Effectiveness Calculations From An Irish Perspective, Samira Barbara Jabakhanji, Jan Sorensen, Robert M Carney, Chris Dickens, Martin Dempster, Jonathan Gallagher, Isabela Caramlau, Frank Doyle Apr 2022

Depression Interventions For Individuals With Coronary Artery Disease - Cost-Effectiveness Calculations From An Irish Perspective, Samira Barbara Jabakhanji, Jan Sorensen, Robert M Carney, Chris Dickens, Martin Dempster, Jonathan Gallagher, Isabela Caramlau, Frank Doyle

BACKGROUND: A substantial proportion of individuals with coronary artery disease experience moderate or severe acute depression that requires treatment. We assessed the cost-effectiveness of four interventions for depression in individuals with coronary artery disease.

METHODS: We assessed effectiveness of pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, collaborative care and exercise as remission rate after 8 and 26 weeks using estimates from a recent network meta-analysis. The cost assessment included standard doses of antidepressants, contact frequency, and staff time per contact. Unit costs were calculated as health services' purchase price for pharmaceuticals and mid-point staff salaries obtained from the Irish Health Service Executive and validated by …
