We describe a 74-year-old woman with right knee osteoarthritis experiencing right tibial neuropathy because of complications of total knee arthroplasty revision. Weakness in the right toe flexors and paresthesia over the sole of the right foot were observed after operation. A nerve conduction study and electromyographic examination indicated right tibial neuropathy. Radiography indicated a prosthesis fragment in the right popliteal fossa, and its location was different before and after surgery. Prosthesis fragment dislodgement was also confirmed through ultrasonography, and the nearby tibial nerve may have been entrapped because of the dislocation process and surrounding tissue fibrosis. Guillain Barre syndrome presents as acute onset of gradually progressive ascending flaccid paralysis with hyporeflexia or areflexia. The variants are acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, acute motor axonal neuropathy, acute motor sensory axonal neuropathy, and Miller Fisher syndrome. Miller Fisher syndrome includes symptoms that form a classical triad of ophthalmoplegia, ataxia, and hyporeflexia or areflexia. This case presents a case of Miller Fisher syndrome with atypical features wherein the patient had normal reflexes and his reflexes remained normal in follow-up.

This dissertation aimed to determine what physiotherapists understood about EF, to summarize normative data for application in physiotherapy practice, and to provide an assessment of feasibility for studying EF impairments in people living with chronic pain. Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is a group of heritable loose connective tissue disorders with 13 distinguished subtypes. The hypermobile type of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) is the most common subtype and is caused by a genetic mutation that leads to defective collagen fibrils. This leads to joint instability and hypermobility, skin elasticity, widespread pain, fatigue, and generalized tissue fragility. Background: Thoracic Epidural Analgesia (TEA) is currently the gold standard analgesia in adult thoracic surgical patients. TEA has medical complications like sepsis, neurological injury, spinal hematoma, and dural puncture. TEA is also contraindicated for patients with existing neurological or hematological comorbidities including patients under antiplatelet or anticoagulation therapy. These factors not only reduce the scope of administering TEA but also increase the risks of hemodynamic instability like hypotension and bradycardia. Introduction: Strengthening The Reporting Of Cohort Studies in Surgery (STROCSS) guidelines were developed in 2017 in order to improve the reporting quality of observational studies in surgery and updated in 2019. In order to maintain relevance and continue upholding good reporting quality among observational studies in surgery, we aimed to update STROCSS 2019 guidelines.
Methods: A STROCSS 2021 steering group was formed to come up with proposals to update STROCSS 2019 guidelines. An expert panel of researchers assessed these proposals and judged whether they should become part of STROCSS 2021 guidelines or not, through a Delphi consensus exercise.

Falls screening can prevent falls and their consequences. The two studies of this thesis aimed to identify the accuracy of falls screening tools and explore patient preferences and empirical validity of the self-rated Falls Risk Questionnaire (FRQ). The first study, Systematic Literature Review, found the Toulouse-St. Louis University Mini Falls Assessment and the Activities-specific Balance Confidence scale Hindi version emerged as accurate tools for predicting falls in the target population. Condylar resorption can be challenging to orthodontist when encountered during treatment. The clinical characteristics and cephalometric findings of a patient who experienced postoperative skeletal relapse caused by progressive condylar resorption (CR) are presented in this case report. The predisposing factors and treatment protocols of condylar resorption are also discussed. A 17-year-old female patient came to our hospital with chief complaint of no contact of anterior teeth. Cephalometric analysis shows that she is a patient with skeletal Class II hyper-divergent pattern caused by mandibular retrognathism. Flattened left condylar head was found on panoramic film suggesting possible condylar erosion in the past. …

Objectives:

Sport and Exercise Physicians represent a relatively new specialty focusing on exercise in complex diseases including musculoskeletal diseases. Our objective was to describe the characteristics, type and complexity of patient presentations, their management strategies and referral information in Australian practice.

Methods:

A cross-sectional study including a cohort of 11 senior Sport and Exercise Physicians in Australia studied all new patient consultations within an 8-week period. Data were analysed relating to presentation, referral source, follow-up referrals, and patient management strategies.

Results:

Purpose: To determine if, in physically active individuals, low-intensity Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training is more effective than training without BFR at improving measures of aerobic capacity.

Methods: A database search was conducted for articles that matched inclusion criteria (minimum level 2 evidence, physically active participants, comparison of low-intensity BFR to no BFR training, comparison of pre-post testing with aerobic fitness or performance, training protocols >2 weeks, studies published after 2010) by two authors and assessed by one using the PEDro scale (a minimum of 5/10 was required) to ensure level 2 quality studies that were then analyzed.

It is defined as a motion-related disorder of the hip with a triad of symptoms, clinical signs, and imaging findings that represents symptomatic premature contact between the proximal femur and the acetabulum. Utilizing and integrating best evidence-based research to improve nursing care is a core responsibility of a nurse. Implementing best nursing practices leads to better patient outcomes and patient experiences. Through research, specific interventions that can reduce the incidence of delirium in critically ill patients were uncovered. Through utilization of theoretical framework, and multiple evidence-based research articles, a protocol was formed to initiate in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray, KY. This protocol consists of a multi-component intervention plan to hopefully decrease incidence of ICU delirium.
