Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository

Measurement of return to work (RTW) lacks attention to outcomes of relevance to all stakeholders. The objective of this thesis was to define what constitutes a successful RTW outcome from a stakeholder perspective and determine how to best measure it. A concept mapping method was used to create a conceptualization of successful RTW outcome based on indicators of interest and importance to various stakeholders. RTW researchers were questioned and the literature was searched for measures that mapped to the conceptualization and concepts. Stakeholders, made up of RTW consumers and providers, generated 48 indicators of successful RTW which were subsequently grouped …

Sport is no longer confined to proverb like “all work no play makes Jack a dull boy” rather it’s a tool to extend international diplomacy, showcasing economic might and maintain youth culture in the society. Common Wealth Games 2010 put India in the same League of Nations capable of organizing mega sporting events showcasing their economic muscle power. No doubt CWG has made the billion populations proud after the spectacular closing event. But consider this: The amount spent games related infrastructure is whooping Rs 55,398 crore of which only Rs 638 crore was spent for training sportspersons. Of the 41 …

Extract:
The results of thousands of trials are never acted on because their published reports do not describe the interventions in enough detail. How can we improve the reporting?

Much healthcare research is currently wasted because its findings are unusable.¹ Published reports of intervention trials often focus on the results and fail to describe interventions adequately. For example, a review of 80 studies selected for the journal Evidence Based Medicine as both valid and important for clinical practice found that clinicians could replicate the intervention in only half the studies.² Interventions may be used incorrectly or not at all if …
