A 58-year-old retired factory worker and part-time farmer was killed when the tractor he was operating overturned into a creek and pinned him. At the time of the incident, the victim was mowing a pasture along a creek bed. The tractor was not equipped with a Roll Over Protective Structure (ROPS) or a seat belt. Attached to the tractor was a five foot bush hog. About 3:00 pm the day of the incident, the victim began mowing a 30 acre bottom land pasture by entering a gate at the east of the pasture. A 60-year-old male minister and part-time farmer began mowing a 15-acre field near his home at about 11:00 am. Operating a farm tractor with a side sickle bar mower attached to the right side, he proceeded around the perimeter of the field. One edge of the field dropped off steeply to a ravine. While making the second pass around the field the ground under the left wheels gave way causing the tractor to roll over. The tractor came to rest on the victim causing massive internal injuries. A 65-year-old farmer died after his tractor overturned, pinning him underneath. The victim, working alone, began mowing with a bush hog along the perimeter of a soy bean field. At approximately 12:30 pm, the victim was about 1/4 mile from the main road mowing blackberry briars along a creek bed. This area was between the bean field and a creek embankment. Having made two cuts into the brush about 30 feet apart for the purpose of marking the creek edge, he proceeded to make a third cut. He backed the tractor, bush hog attached, toward the embankment. At 4:30 pm, the victim was bush-hogging a pasture on his farm, driving a tractor pulling a five-foot-wide, three-point hitch rotary bush-hog. A 48-year-old male tree trimmer (the victim) died from a fall while trimming a tree from a bucket truck. The victim was the owner/operator of a tree trimming service. He operated the business for about 23 years, employing various part time helpers. On the day of the incident, two sons-in-law were operating chain saws at the scene when they heard a loud "pop." After loading five round bales of hay onto a flat bed wagon the victim drove his tractor down a public roadway to transfer the hay to another pasture for winter storage. On the morning of the incident, the victim had been baling hay in a field seven miles from his home. After baling for about two hours, he left the field and proceeded home for lunch. The witness and helper were unloading 30' sections of 4" irrigation pipe from a flat bed wagon at a tobacco field. The procedure was to unload and connect the pipe in the field, then pump water from a creek approximately 300' away. The victim, along with a neighbor (the witness), was loading the neighbor's tractor on a flatbed trailer to transport it to the victim's tobacco field for plowing. The trailer, attached to the pick-up truck, was parked on a gradual downward slope in preparation for tractor loading. Having recently sold the camper, the farmer, assisted by the buyer, was preparing to remove it from the farmer's property.

A 51-year-old male self-employed logger/farmer was preparing to unload logs at a sawmill. The load consisted of about 18 logs, 10-22" in diameter and 8-12 feet long. The load had been secured by 2 binders (chains) to the back of a Chevrolet flatbed single-axle truck. The forward of the 2 chains had been removed by the victim. The victim was pulling a wagon on which two children and one adult were riding on their way to the farmer's fishing pond. A 51-year-old male demolition foreman (the victim) died from head injuries sustained when he fell through a hole in a flat roof to a concrete floor. At about 3:25 pm the victim was on the roof to retrieve a four by eight sheet of 3/4" plywood to be used at another location on the plant site. After moving the plywood, partially exposing the hole, the victim fell 35 feet to a concrete floor. There were no witnesses to the fall.
