Assessment Of Conduct Disorder In Primary Care: Integrative Review, Chantel M. Kilford
DNP Qualifying Manuscripts
Conduct disorder and behavioral problems in children are the 6th most prominent childhood health disorder within the United States of America. Early recognition and interventions have shown to improve outcomes and reduce lifelong adult sequela. Evidence suggests that primary care providers are not confident or knowledgeable about identification and assessment of the disorder. The manuscript examines the prevalence, co-morbidities, trajectories, mortality risk and outcomes of conduct disorder. Health disparities and diagnostic stigma are also addressed. Additionally, the manuscript provides primary care providers with evidence-based research and recommendations for prompt identification and screening. Conduct disorder has devasting individual, social, and …

Securing Nasogastric Tubes In Children, Julie Ann Lavoie
Securing Nasogastric Tubes In Children, Julie Ann Lavoie
Dissertations (1934 -)
Nasogastric tubes (NGTs) are commonly placed in children at risk for malnutrition in order to provide temporary nutrition support until the child achieves independent oral feedings or requires durable tube placement. Accurate securement of NGTs is necessary to safely provide nutrition, particularly in infants and toddlers who are at highest risk for dislodging their NGT. Dislodgement of an NGT has a cascade effect on the medical management, requiring increased exposure to the healthcare system with every replacement. Nasal bridles are widely used to secure NGTs in adults but are not widely used with children. The purpose of this retrospective, correlational …

Lung-Protective Ventilation Across The Lifespan: Implementation Of An Intraoperative Protocol For Adults And Pediatrics, Megan Reynolds, Rachel Riddle
Lung-Protective Ventilation Across The Lifespan: Implementation Of An Intraoperative Protocol For Adults And Pediatrics, Megan Reynolds, Rachel Riddle
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Traditional ventilation strategies have been shown to lead to the development of lung injury and postoperative pulmonary complications. Lung-protective ventilation (LPV) strategies for adults include low tidal volumes of 6-8 mL/kg based on ideal body weight, moderate levels of positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP), incremental recruitment maneuvers routinely and as needed, and low fraction of inspired oxygen. Recommendations for pediatrics are similar, with some suggesting a more liberal limit for tidal volumes of less than 10 mL/kg based on predicted body weight. However, adoption of LPV strategies is not universal. Completed objectives of this practice project included thoroughly reviewing literature relating …
