Is There A Relationship Between Hopelessness And Religious Problem-Solving Skills?, Eroshini Goonesekera

Honors Theses

Students from a small liberal arts college completed the Beck Hopelessness Scale (81-JS) and the short form of the Religious Problem-Solving Scale. The Religious Problem-Solving Scale consists of three subscales: collaborative, self-directive and deferring. A Pearson Correlation was conducted between the BHS score and each subscale of the Religious Problem-Solving Scale. The Bl IS score and the self-directing score were positively correlated. However the correlation of the BHS score and the collaborative and deferring scales were non-significant.

Computational Studies Of Melatonin Analogues, Jessica Lynne Baima Jan 2005

Computational Studies Of Melatonin Analogues, Jessica Lynne Baima

Honors Theses

Melatonin (MLT, N-Acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine), a naturally occurring hormone produced by the pineal gland, plays a crucial role in the regulation of circadian rhythms. Melatonin supplements are utilized in treating various sleep disorders, but detrimental side effects currently discourages its use in space. Computer generated molecular models of MLT analogues were studied with the purpose of resolving the deficiencies within existing therapeutic agents by constructing an enhanced MLT analogue. The MT receptor binding data for each analogue was obtained from the literature and Sybyl 6.9 was used to perform 3-D quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) studies on eight data sets, using the comparative …

Osteoporosis Prevention In Undergraduate College Students At Ouachita Baptist University And Henderson State University, Bethany Murray

Honors Theses

Objective The purpose of this survey-based research project was to examine lifestyle, diet, and exercise habits of the undergraduate students at Ouachita Baptist University and Henderson State University to see if these students are making choices that will increase or decrease their risk of osteoporosis.

Design Surveys were completed by undergraduate students at Ouachita Baptist University and Henderson State University. They were asked to answer twenty-six questions about their diet, exercise, and lifestyle habits.

Subjects/Setting One hundred students at Ouachita Baptist University and 98 students at Henderson State University completed the survey in the campus student center.
